Everyone has their own opinions on what is consider the "best" setup. We all know that going to your local Best Buy will not accomplish this. If money were not an option what would be your ultimate speaker setup? What type of speakers, subwoofer, amp(s), receiver or preamp, cables would you use?

This is out of pure curiosity...:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Full-on McIntosh gear, Wilson Alexandria fronts and matching center/surround/sub, Runco projector. I've never given it that much thought though, as it will never ever happen.

hmmm for one that I could buy possibly in the future would be Paradigm Signature line with dual subs with Anthem D2V processor and Anthem amps driving them. PJ would probably be a SIM PJ with a contoured screen probably around 120 inch and also making sure I have it with the anamorphic lens.

For one that would be beyond budget. Full Wilson Alexandria fronts with the matching center and surrounds. Amps I might have to use Krell Master series (because I would just have to try them to believe it) with a Krell Mulit channel amp on the rest. PJ would again either be the top of the line SIM or the 250K Runco. Cables would be all MIT Oracle line. It would all be in a dedicated room built for it all. Probably 3 rows. Ect ect. There are too many choices and its a hard call if I had that kind of money. I would probably have to built 2 different theaters just to have more gear to experience.

here's some very nice ones I personally would enjoy.

That Sim2 PJ and SMX curved screen are very trick. Would love to see a Sim2 in action, a serious projector for sure.

Im currently working on my "dream theater". I started with some logitech Z5500 computer speakers as my theater setup with an old 1080I multimedia Epson projector(2008). I then moved onto some Paradigm Mini Monitors as fronts(2008-2009). Ive progressed to having Paradigm Studio 100 v2s for my fronts, rears and surrounds, with a Epson 1080UB PJ, Yamaha rx-v3800 receiver and a Paradigm 690 v4 center.

Since buying a house in July of last year I have since upgraded to a Paradigm Signature C5 center and Signature S8s both current version v3 for my fronts and Center. Ive upgraded my pj to a Epson 8500 UB with a custom built cabinet that I made for it. Also added an Emotiva XPA-5.

Within the next year (Looking forward to my tax refund next spring) Im planning to add ADP3 v3s for my rears and surrounds. Also intending to upgrade my Emotiva XPA-5 to an anthem P5, or a Mcintosh amp. Have also been considering keeping the XPA-5 as I do like it a lot, and simply getting an Anthem P2 for my fronts.

I think if they ever saw this, what anyone would want to do on this form would look like child's play.

    acutally not a bad idea.
Honey can we buy some SDA 1.2TL's? Their big but sound great.

wife: They are so big though, and its going to look bad.

Yeah well unless you want me to do this to our house, I think SDA's would be a good choice.

Wife: OMG he must be single, and no I don't want that done to my house. get the SDA's

    ahhhh perfect world. lol ;)

Basically that sled moves the lens in front or out of the PJ lens when viewing different image aspects. Since he is using 2:35 widescreen he needs the external lens to slide in front of the PJ lens to fill the screen. Higher sleds are electric so you can just press a button and the lens will move accordingly. A lens can run 2000-3000 easy with sled cost around 1500-2k depending on make. That Sim2 PJ being used is 23k-30k depending on where you shop and comes with external video box.

I have never heard the Signature series speakers before and I wonder just how much better they sound over the Studio 100's. I am thinking of getting some speakers for a two channel setup, do you think either of these speakers would work?

The Paradigm 100s are an excellent speaker in my opinion. Ive owned my first pair for a while now and I love them, but with the recent upgrade to the Signature S8s I am selling them on craigslist. Ive heard the 100 v3 and v4 at my dealer and I honestly preferred the v2 100s. They sounded more natural to me with a deeper bass, but they have 2 - 8" woofers as opposed to 3 - 6.5" woofers. I have not actually gotten my S8s yet, should be in today or tomorrow... but after hearing them at my dealer I decided to just get them. They cost a lost more (about 5X what you can pick up some used Studio 100s) but in the end I wanted the S8s and I have a horrendous case of upgraditus. Is the S8s 5X better than the 100s.... DEFINATELY not, but it is still better. If you decide you want a pair of Studio 100s version 2 let me know ;)

you can also grab S8's used at dealers for great prices. found one pair for 3500 and at another one in a different state 3800. they are great speakers IMO.

The thing about the studio is that the technology used on the previous sigs gets brought down to the studio line to improve their performance. IMO the studio 100's (depending on V) is a great speaker for HT and 2 channel. Personally if I upgraded I would want to get the S8's and go to town.

I believe the new Studio 100s are pretty much a S8s version 1. I was told they took the S8s v1 parts and put it into the new Studio 100 version 5...... My dealer had a 5.1 system of S8s, C5, ADP3s in version 1 on display, tried to sell me those but I wanted version 2s or version 3s. He gave me a good discount on brand new v3s so i went with those.

I have a pair of SRS 1.2's for the front mains-a pair of SRS 3.2's for centers and a pair of Polk modified Monitor 12's for the rears.
But that's all going to change

Been through several different speaker setups and lines the Polk in walls are exceptional the subs with the Polk SWA is excellent. You do though need to carefully plan when using any in wall
