Sub not firing at times...

Here's my setup as it stands right now:
Yamaha RX-V565 AV Receiver (7.1, running in 5.1 right now)
Samsung 860 50" Plasma
Polk Audio RTi A1 Bookshelf Speakers
Polk Audio CS1 Center Channel
Polk Audio RC 60i Rear Speakers
Polk Audio PSW111
LG Blu-Ray player
I installed my speakers using Monster Cable as well as a Monster Cable Sub Cable...I initially purchased those cables at my local AV store. When I brought them all home, I priced them out on the internet...Well, I returned the cables to the store promptly and purchased them on-line at Amazon...Saved a ton on the exact same cables.
Anyway, on to my problem.
My PSW111 does not always fire up when I turn on my receiver. The only time that the sub fires is when we are watching high definition programming from the cable box. There is an indicator on the display of the receiver that shows when a signal is being sent to the sub...It is not lit up when we are watching Blu-Ray disks, listening to the tuner, or any other time.
I am hoping that it is something that this first timer is missing. I've checked and re-checked the sub cable. I've utilized the receivers auto setup that adjusts levels based on a microphone that Yamaha provides. I've used different adjustments on the rear of the sub to no avail. Right now, the low pass filter is set to LFE. I have the power on the sub set to AUTO.
Any help would be appreciated...I may want to contact Yamaha as well. It might be a receiver issue and not a sub issue at all.

I'm guessing it's a receiver set-up issue.
Are speakers set to "Large" or "Small"? I always run mine "Small" with a sub, but some would probably recommend otherwise.
How is the sub set-up in the receiver menu? Not sure what choices you have with the Yamaha
The confusing part to me is that it works for hi-def programming but not for Blu-ray.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
It's either the AVR settings or the BD player that aren't configured correctly. Check the input settings on the AVR and also check the HDMI output settings on the BD player.

OK, I was playing around with the receiver settings...There was a setup that states, LFE only, Both or Front only...It was set on LFE so I changed it to both and now the sub fires on everything I put through my receiver. I am still going to contact Yamaha Customer Care to make sure that I have it covered. Thanks for the help...Sounds much better now when listening to Sir Mix-A-Lot...Umm, just kidding. I ran some classic YES through it from my IPOD and it sounds a ton better. All of my kids programs sound better as well. I never thought that I would appreciate Chuggington (if you don't know, it is like a much cooler American version of Thomas the Train) in surround sound with some nice bass.
Thanks again for the replies...Yamaha RX-V565 AV Receiver (7.1, running in 5.1 right now)
