Just hooked up a pioneer 1018 receiver I purchased from audiogon a few weeks ago. Everything as far as I can tell works well. The only issue I seem to have, which may not affect any performance, is that I cannot get the receiver into standby mode. The power button on the reciever and the remote only turns the unit on and off. No red light when on or bluelight. THe display itself is fine. Also, the tools menu button on the remote gives message of cannot select. Any info? Thanks

This is not an issue. I also have one and there is no light when it is on stand-by.
if you can turn on your receiver with your remote without having to push the power button, then the receiver is in fact in stand-by. it is just that now this receiver comsumers very little electricity so there is no need for more lights on.

If you power it on and the blue led on the power buton does not turn on, then the LED is blown, which has been an issue on the pio receivers...

so if I understand correctly - right now I pressed the power button on the receiver and the unit powered on. If I then can turn on and off the receiver by pressing the power/standby button on the remote then it is on and off standby by using the remote? I only ask because the manual says to press the speakers button on the receiver at the same time pressing the standby button in order to change the speakers from 6 -8 ohms. But when I do this I get no information as to which setting the speakers are on.

I am just comparing it to a denon 1610 I was using. The denon had a main on off button on the receiver. When pressed, the unit was on with a red light around the main power button. When I pressed the remote control power button it would turn the receiver on, bluelight on receiver would come on and power up. When I pressed it again it would go into standby mode and my cable signal, thru hdmi, would just go to my tv so I could watch tv and hear sound via the tv and the tv speakers. WHen I press the standby power button that says receiver on the remote the receiver powers off with no lights on and the cable signal does not go thru to the tv if that makes sense.
