Any condition. Ugly is normal.
Original apple boxes packaging must be trashed.

I heard that. I had to "educate" myself so I could work on them. Once right they're a nice piece of gear though. Butt ugly but I'm good with the looks. "in the dark".

I was hoping for a couple of old non-working pieces to play around with.

I especially disliked the shocking feeling when I touched the preamp knobs, but then again thats just me.

That sucks! I haven't had any major issues from them at all but I've read some horror stories on shipping and quality control from the older models.
