My top speed occurred when I was passing a drunk driver on the way back from the beach one night. I was driving my parents' Saab 900 with them sitting in the backseat and my friend in the passenger seat. I blew by the guy at 105, but was forced to slow down because my parents were having cardiac arrest in the back seat. I've had my Audi 4000 Quattro up that high several times, but it's slower than nuts up that high. That's not the case, however, with the Saab. Also my friend got his Honda Civic up to 120 with me in the car. Interesting experience.

I was helping a (hot) female friend of mine do a little car shopping. She test drove a Dodge Stratus V6, I believe (sorry Micah). Being that she's hot and also a female, she can't drive to save her life. So, she decides to see how fast this car can go. I know she got it up to at least 95 at which point she takes her eyes off the road and looks at me and says, "Isn't this fun?" and starts laughing. I promptly told her to get her eyes back on the road before she kills us. I survived, though. And as it turned out, helping her car shop was a very rewarding experience! :D

I did 165 in my Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. Up in N.J. on Rt. 539 going to LBI.
Other times when it was safe(?), when and where I could. I learned real quick, at speeds above 140, if you see something slow down or move over.
I did 145 in my ASC McLaren Mustang. My Viper is a garage queen so no high speed runs, yet.
185 was tops with a friend driving his Farrari Testarossa.
Good rule of thumb, "drive sain in the rain and slowin the snow".

I was just thinking about this yesterday. You guys are mindreaders.

I should get Matt Polk into this thread. He races his street cars at a race track. (We have some cool pics of him racing somewhere on this server... If I could find em I'd post em.) He took a street-car racing course and now does it regularly. Of course, his street cars are...

I was just thinking about this because it occured to me that I probably have never even driven 100 mph. Even driving across Texas at 3am, I probably was in a dream, and definitely not going much over 90.

    I'm a wimp. Speed kills.

MacLaren made a Capri from 84-85 then '86 started Mustangs until '90 they made a total of 3207. In '90 they made 65 mine is #1, white with maroon interior and black top. I pulled the stock engine and put in a worked 351 the suspension(spl) was done alreay buy McLaren. It runs low 11s to high 10s in the 1/4 at 134. All mods are revesable and the stock engine will go back in with 9400 miles on it.

Aaron LBI is a cool place. The last time I was there was when the redid themall wih the fudge factory and put the new storse on the north side of the street. They redid Panzons too. Honey Bubbles had the BEST icecream. Man I want to go back. My family had been going there since I was little. We stayed on Mississippi Ave. and New Jersey once. Also lived on 31st ST. for a summer working for my bro in law painting houses. I painted several of the old Vitorians on Central and the streets near. Along with the hotel by he park, can't remember the name. When I got my first settlement I stayed with a bunch of friends on Jousha Ave., south end, from April til Oct.. What a summer one of the best times of my life. I have many frieds down there some are year rounders. One lived on the Blvd. next to the wood piles at 11th St. IMO its one of the nicest beaches I've ever been to. Where dose your family have a house? My aunt and uncle have a house on the north end, Harvey Ceders or past.
Sorry the post got so long, LBI holds a special place in my heart. Especially Bayside Dinner for breakfast.
Its been a long time since I went there.
My Viper is my baby but it just keeps pulling, every gear ya get rubber. It never has seen rain. I have a 98 Mustang for my everyday a whole 13,000 on it. Andrea has a Trans Am with the WS-6 package and everything else you could get since it was the last year, we use it most of the time.
    MICAH-MICAH-MICAH
Micah beleave it or not my ex brother in law painted Matt's Carmin Ghia(spl?) ask him if he remembers Bond Enterprise's and Bill. He made him a custome pair of speakers for the paint job. My sister won't talk about it much but from what I gather they knew each oher before the painting. It had to have been in the 80's. Ask him if he knows a guy by the name of Page.

Yeah Ron I think we had a conversation on speed one time. I'm definetly a speed freck, but was not speeding when I had he wreck. The jury found the other guy 100% liable.
Sorry about the book cars are a passion with me and LBI brought back mega memories.

~125 MPH in my WRX. I was chasing an M3 when I looked down at the speedometer. "Holly ****, I better slow down!" Theoretically I can make it up to ~140 (at least, Car and Driver did) but my fear of getting a ticket (or hitting a rock) is too great. I'll stick to 125 for now.

100 mph in my mom's Lexus ES 300 back in 10th grade. now, my f-150 won't go over 80 without some serious vibration, so no chance of beating that one.

Sounds like you've spent a lot of time down there. I've been going down there as long as I can remember. My parents have a place in Brighton Beach (middle of the island). I'm guessing your relatives' place must be pretty nice if it's up towards that end of the island.

not my fastest but combine the vehicle I was in and the speed it was the most thrilling. 1972 (I think) Chevy Impala with a 350 stock, it was my moms car, just floored it on a straight run of the road, it buried at 120 so how knows how fast, hit a little raise in the road and thought it was over, could not slow down fast enough.

Scott look I own one they were made by Ford and extensively modified buy ASC McLaren. Because you don't know of them does not mean they were not made.
Do you know how to do a search online instead of telling me the car I own was not made because you nor your friend have never heard of one. Your giving me a hard time because of your lack of knowledge, that is NOT cool my friend. They were bought from Ford in lots. ASC, American Sunroof Corperation and McLaren made them. The roofs were cute off and the winshields slanted back 10°. They are 2 seaters with suspension modes sanded down to metal and painted with laquer paint and clear coats. They had a covertable tops which folded down into a body panel which opened. Special rims were also made for them. DO A SEARCH.

    I've had my 4.3L V6 full-size Chevy up to 100.

I rode with a dude my freshman year. He had a Dinan M3 with the supercharger. We were racing this way hopped up Eclipse. The Eclipse was keeping up until we hit about 130. We ended up going about 160 on I-75N, just south of Atlanta. Same guy also had a SR71 300ZX. We got that up tp 140 on the Connector, in downtown Atlanta.

    Me driving, not worth mentioning.....

as a passenger, probably about 120 or so in a friends 87 (I think) Saleen mustang...

    Chris,

I don't think that Scott was questioning the validity of your claim but rather just asking about your car. I was sort of wondering the same thing as I hadn't heard of it either.

Well, this is a popular thread! I had a feeling a lot of you guys were car guys.

I've had a couple of different cars up to around 130. I'm not exactly "Mr. Safety", (I got to 105 on the way to church last Sunday!) but that's pretty damn fast for the street. Not many places you can go that fast (or faster) with, what I consider to be, an acceptable level of safety. I've got a car that ought to do better than 160, but I probably won't find out unless I'm on a big oval track!

When someone tells me "they have a friend at Ford who has worked there for twenty years and says they NEVER made such a car". I don't think he is asking me about my car. Right now there are 3 companies modifying Mustangs Salleen, Roulsh(spl), and one in Miami wich the name escapes me and they are sold at Ford dealers.
If someone has questions ask, I don't have any poblems telling anyone. But don't tell me about something when whoever knows nothing of it.
I did a search on dogpile.com and found many sites including the regitry wich mine is listed in.

I just read it different, that's all. The way I saw it is all Scott said is that the guy he knows never heard of them and was asking about yours. I don't think he was saying that you were making it up.

Whatever, it's none of my business, I just thought your response to what I saw as a pretty innocent inquiry (and one I would have made) was pretty harsh. My point is, it is things like this (and I'm not pointing any fingers) is a reason that more people don't post on the forum. A lot of people are afraid to post a question and getting flamed for it.

    Scott,

I've done 165 MPH a couple of times.
The road to the Indy Airport Tower was an excellent
place for high speed Ninja runs (before 9/11).

Its 2 miles long, straight, nicely paved, and centered
    between two run ways.

I've also done some high speed stuff on I-74 on a
    Sunday Evening just inside Indiana (Illinois side);
when there is absolutely no traffic and there really
isn't any place for Johnny Law to hide.

When I go fast (hyper-speeds)... I try very hard not to put anybody but myself at risk. The odd thing about having a
Ninja at high speeds.... is that it feels extremely safe (gyro
effect from wheels). The faster you go, the more stable the bike.

Not sure how fast it was but I would say over 100. Was on I-15 going to Vegas from Fort Irwin.
93 Ford Escort Sedan. Speedomoter tops out at 85(at about 5 oclock) but I spun the needle around to about 7 o'clock. So I figure about 100 or so...

Got my Dodge Avenger up to 95 on I-83

and my Chrysler Sebring LXi up to 95 on the same stretch and on 395 in Alexandria, VA.
