Need Layout Idea for my room

Looking for your ideas on what kinds of speakers I should use and WHERE to mount them. My room seems to be speaker location challenged.
The room is prewired for 7.1 in the ceiling. All drops are located with the couch being in the center.
Requirements:
1) Must have great sound and imaging. I'm willing to pay the price.
2) Fit well with the room and be surround compatible.
3) Would like to have great sound from the front channels for music. If I mount my speakers to the ceiling I will only get good imaging on the couch.
** Please see attached pic of my room.
Options:
1) Flush mount ceiling speakers using pre-wiring- since they're so far away I don't think I'll like the imaging for music at all. AND sound will probably be horrible for surrounding rooms
2) Bookshelf speakers LSi7 or LSI9's mounted from the ceiling and using existing pre-wiring. Is it possible to mount LSi9's from the ceiling or would this look like a huge block sticking out from the ceiling?
3) Get creative with other locations on the wall or soffit? (see pic)
4) I can't figure out any floor standing speakers for this room....you can see how ugly my existing ones are.

Hey a250Rlover,
one question that comes to mind is, how big is the living room? How much open area do you have behind the couch if any (is it an open floorplan that extends out to a dining room area/kitchen?)
I ask because, if it isn't that large of a room a proper 5.1 will do just as well if not better than a 7.1 in a medium sized room. More speakers isn't always better.
