Hi folks...new guy here. I'm looking for some feedback on Polk VM's.

I have a smaller living room and have been using a RM20 system for a few years now. It's time for an upgrade. My eyes are set on the VM20's for the front 3 channels and the VM10's for rear channels.

Anyone have some thoughts/opinions on the performance of the VM series that can help me out? These are pretty hard to find in a store for a demo so any help would really be appreciated.

-Thanks

I personally haven't heard any other than at Fry's, but they did sound nice there with a MP3K! I've heard many people on here give them good reviews, but I think the price has stopped a lot of people from taking the plunge with the VMs, so first hand accounts may be limited. I would love to have some myself. You will definitely need a good sub to go with them:)

IMHO, if the idea of upgrading is for the looks, then go for it. However, if the idea is to gain power and fidelity, there isn't enough difference in power between the RMs and VMs to justify calling it and upgrade. Take the time to compare both series, you have to remeber that in order to have a simple gain of 3db you need at least double the power so if your goal is really sound upgrade, you are simply wasting your money. This series was priced and targetted for consumers which has esthetic as priority and you can get a lot of speaker for that price (not talking quantity here).

    Cheers!

There was a demo of the VM series where the speakers were sent to members of the forum. Check out the reviews here on polk's site. Many are from members here.

The VM's do look very nice, but IMO they are built more for good looks next to a flat screen TV than for sound quality.

RTi-A or LSi speakers destroy them for sound quality at a similar or lower price.

    Just my opinon.....

    Michael
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)
