These have been heavily discussed already. I've called the seller twice this morning. See SDA post on WTB section, and "How to determine if 1.2s are TLs" in Speakers.

Since there's a thread dedicated to these speakers, I'll just build off of it.
Went to take a look at these for Cory today. They, along with many other electronics, are being sold by a sweet woman named Tammy. This was her brother's equipment before he died in a tragic motorcycle accident two years ago. She has given me permission to share the following information with the forum so that potential owners can be in "the know". She said herself she doesn't know much about any of it, and has gauged her pricing off the little info she's found online.
To start, these are NOT TL's... just regular 1.2s. No interconnect, and have been pretty obviously neglected for the last several years. Owner has stored in a shed (not climate controlled) Almost all the hardware screws have surface rust, drivers are very dusty, etc. Nothing functionally wrong so far as I can tell. She did briefly power up with a receiver to radio to display they create sound. I actually only saw the drivers on one speaker, as the other had many things obstructing it. My primary goal was to determine if they are 1.2TLs...
Along with the Polks, there were two pairs of Bose 901s, a Denon 3300 AVR, an Onkyo Integra M-508 Amp... and some other less appealing components. I shot a couple pics of the 901s, as they seem to be more appreciated than other Bose products. She wants $300 for one pair, and $400 for the other which will include the accompanying equalizer. -
Some more photos of the imperfections. Other scratches and abrasions too, but this was the most obvious stuff.

how does the wood end caps look? -
Here are some photos of the Bose 901's... in case anyone was curious.
Lee,
I'll be honest with you, they weren't my primary focus. And these things are so damned tall, it's hard to get a really clear view of them anyway. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but I would expect them to have some bruises like the rest of the speakers.
I don't doubt that, if someone were to explain their reduced value by the flaws and what's wrong, that these could sell for less than $1000. How much less, I'm unsure. Cory's still planning on looking at them tomorrow. Maybe he can take a 2nd look at the endcaps. She has received a good number of phonecalls about them... but as far as I know, I was the first to look at them. -
Talked to her earlier but she really didn't know anything about them. I wouldn't pay $1000 for them in their current condition.
-
Sounds like they could have spent at least 1 season in a shed. Provided the main structure and electronics are good they might be worth bringing back. I bet a serious offer would take them.
Another season in the shed may make them useless.
Wish they were closer.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

As long as the drivers, crossovers, and the cabnet was in good sound condition I would pick them up. The last 3 sets of these sold for $2000 on eBay. So if you could talk her down 2 or 3 hundred you would be good to go.Polk Audio SDA 2.3tl Fully Hot Rodded. 😎

I have NOT heard from the seller yet, but I have spoken to my mom. She will be travelling down here in August and will be bringing them with her IF I can get them. I did not know Cory was in on these, and will send him a PM to confirm he still wants before I try and make a move. The Gear... Hello All,
I had left Tami several e-mails, and got a response to one. I called and left her two messages, one yesterday, and on today, no response to either. I just called her again and got off the phone with her. I had mentioned right from the beginning I was VERY interested, especially if they were TL's. Now she says she has someone coming at 9:00 tomorrow morning to buy them. I informed her I was not real happy, that I showed my interest from day 1 and was not returning phone calls/emails. She also knew Dane was coming to look at them today for me. She said she would call if the other party does not take them.
In looking at Dane's pictures though, they do look kind of rough and they are not TL's. Can someone maybe even verify that they might be the original SRS's as the interconnect socket looks as though it may be blade/blade. I believe that connection was on the originals only. When they went to the 1.2's they switched to a pin/blade, right?
On the 3.1 TL's that I have, the socket looks different as though it had a blade terminal and a pin terminal.
I just got into Minneapolis an hour ago and I am disappointed in that I was not first in line and she knew of my interest.
If they are the original SRS, I am not interested, but I would like to look at them in person. I am quite fussy about the shape of them, and they look like they are in tough shape and I cannot imagine that being in the cold garage has done them any good.
Anyone's thoughts?
Thanks
Cory -
I would tell her you want to come by NOW... and I would push the point that you were the first and that you are ready to take them.
I questioned them being anything other than SRS's based upon the interconnect as well.

I was only defending Cory to the fact that he took a several hour drive to MN today and was going there tomorrow. The seller has been a difficult person to get in touch with, and he's been leaving many voicemails/e-mails over the last couple of days.
In the end, as long as they end up in a Polkie's hand, I'm happy. Hopefully the photos helped make it an easier decision one way or the other for all parties... If someone here purchases them, please post with the info! -
They are the original SRS speakers with the blade/blade interconnect. If you are not interested in an original SRS speaker, I personally would not waste anymore time with someone that has jerked you around as much as this woman has.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

thanks bluecomet for your response. I was leaning towards them being the original SRS's. I have read many times that they cannont be upgraded to TL specs., or at least not easily and cost effective.
I responded with an email to the seller before anyone on the forum even mentioned them. I must have come across the ad just shortly after they were listed. She never said anything to Dane when he come looked at them yesterday for me and she knew he was looking at them on my behalf and knew I would look at them today if I could make arrangements with her.
I have a set of the 2.3's that I have upgraded recently and they are in excellent shape, so it would be hard to me to get rid of them for the shape these are in and not being TL's. I guess I am only interested in either the 2.3TL's or the 1.2TL's to upgrade what I have. If I can find a pair of the 1.2's to upgrade to the TL's for the right price, that would be great also.
Thanks so much to Dane for taking your time and efforts to go look at them. Just shows the true spirit of this forum for the love of Polks! Also Dane, thanks for looking out for me and defending my position in line to get to these speakers!

Toolforlifefan,
That was kind of my thoughts also. From what you see by the binding posts, does it look like they are the blade/blade connection, confirming them at the original SRS's? -
And her CL ad says they are in very good shape and I asked her again, how good of shape the cabinets were in and she never mention they were left out in a cold storage place during the winter letting all the condensation rust everything!

Yes they are the original SRS's, that and the crossover plate has the extra 4 bolts as the crossovers are different then the 1.2/1.2tl's. this version cannot be tl'ed.
I would pull a few drivers , the crossover plates, and do a good inspection before I handed any money over and taking on that project .Polk Audio SDA 2.3tl Fully Hot Rodded. 😎

Hey Cory, just saw this post. Been away on vacation. I would definitely avoid these at anywhere near what she wants for them. Sorry you had to get jerked around like that. Sounds like the lady was in over her head with all the responses she got and did not really know what she had. Kinda like putting an ad for a '71 Hemi Cuda convertible for $1000 not knowing about cars. Sorta.SRS 3.1TL

Toolforlifefan,
Thanks for you knowledge and input. As I thought these were the original SRS version, I am not interested. I will just keep my eye out. I am not in desperate need, but they seem hard to come by in my neck of the woods. -
I appreciate the confirmation on the SRS as well... I wasn't certain of the differences myself. Glad I got photos to distinguish!!
-
Stubby,
Good to hear from you!! Yes, I am going to avoid these as per the way they have been treated. Also, I am not interested if they are the originals. As you know the 2.3's that I have are in excellent shape and now upgraded, just thinking of matting the baskets and sealing the drivers (winter project).
Something in me just think I need the TL's. I have been asked again if the 3.1's are for sale!!
Hope you had a great vacation!
Cory -
Thank again Dane!
Your time/effort are appreicated. Too bad these were not the TL's!!
Cory -
Dane,
Keep me in mind if you find any more in your area that might come up that you are not interested in at the time.
Thanks
Cory
