Well, since it was dredged up...

I picked up a Panny 42" G10 (replaced by the G25, I believe) around this time last year. From everything I could gather (spent around 3 months researching) it was the best 42" out besides the Pioneers.

I couldn't be happier with it. It has a slight green tint but not much and the black levels are outstanding. I find it pretty similar to my color correction monitors and had it sitting next to one of these beats for awhile and the plasma fared fairly well in THX mode.

It isn't a rant, it's fact. And it's mostly intended as a notice to advise people so they have more information when making their decisions.

Just because you think it's dead doesn't mean it isn't still being read, and as such, and considering the fact that this year's TVs (mostly the Samsung models) need serious scrutiny before one buys, this is relavant.

You got a problem with people being informed?

Squishy - you from New Jersey?

If you have a room with a lot of ambient light that would reflect on the screen, purchase an LCD. If you want the most accurate picture, with excellent off axis viewing, buy a plasma.

I work part time at a television station, and we although use a quite a few Sony LCD XBR displays in the control rooms, the color is more accurate on the small CRT 24 inch monitors in the video room when shading color between cameras.

For the price to size value, I have actually been considering a Mitsubishi DLP

WD65837...65 inch screen, and the 837 series is the top of the line for the Mitsu DLPs (not including the Laser-Vues).

Can anyone with a newer DLP add your .02?

I have a Mits 65 inch DLP that I bought at Circuit City on Christmas Eve 2006 - have not had any major or minor issues with it. I replaced the original lamp in January of 2009. It's becoming harder to see one before you buy. You called it on the price to size value - I'd love the 82' Mits in my living room - it's just slightly taller and a little bit wider than my 65".
