Yestarday, my son and I put together his first SDA system. Purchased a pair of 1c's from Pycroft a few weeks ago and they are now singing. They are what they are advertised, the best of the sda's for a smaller room. Thank you again Pycroft, you made my son's eyes pop out of his head. His first listen was " A whole lotta a love " from Led Zep, with the Adcom 555ii pushing them that room was trembling.

Great stuff Joe. Is you son old enough to be interested in the "Club" here? If so encourage him to sign up, log on, and rock on!

Hey my man from Beijing, yeah he is plenty old enough. As for the forum, no, he does not need to be here. Cost me too much money, I will tell him what he needs to know.

My son John is 14 going on 15 and he fully appreciates the SDA's as well. I think he's secretly waiting for me to croak so he can inherit the SDA's, the two channel system and all my LP's. I keep telling him "Some day son, all this will be yours".

    Great stuff Joe.

I have a pair of vintage Yamaha monitors (don't laugh these little suckers kick butt) in my son's bedroom rig for now. I would like to give him my CRSs but I already lent them to my older son. The problem is his room is really small and I don't think it will do the CRSs justice anyway. A friend of mine whom I sold a pair of RTR 300 D towers thirty years ago is giving them back to me. I'm going to restore them, xovers and all and see how they work out in the little guy's room.

I'm glad to see you passing on the SDA tradition and love to you son. Awesome stuff!

Wow Joe, this is Deja Vu. My son will turn 16 in a few weeks and just yesterday was hinting at me gifting him my "extra" rig.

We had a long talk about how much I value the TL'd SDA 2B's that anchor that rig as I purchased them brand new in 1987 and they were my first higher quality speakers.

The rest of the rig consists of NAD gear I also bought brand new at the time; NAD 7600 150+ wpc receiver, NAD 5425 CD Player. The CDP is buffered with a new and tweaked Yaquin CD1 Tube Buffer and new MIT Shotgun IC's and Cables.

I felt the rig was a little too much to slide into place of his $200 plastic modular boom-box style rig, but he is a pretty mature kid.

You've given me a catalyst to consider it a little more seriously.

My son is 18 and has been taking my left overs for years. It started with a pair of monitor 7's and a nad 3150. Then he moved on to my rta 12c's and a nad 2600. Now he's eyeballing my sda 2a's

Yep exactly what I was thinking, old enough for enjoying the benifit of quality audio however, should be old enough for CP once he is willing and able to put the $$$ on the table for his own upgrades. Cnh, I wonder what maandjojo has done to you for having such harmfull suggestion over his budget^ ;):D:p

Pretty cool - Your son enjoying listening to some of the best speakers, made 20 + years ago, with some of the best music, made 40+ years ago! They just don't make them (either one) like they used to :D
SDA SRS modded: X’ovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDO’d, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged! Done this on my own? Not a chance. Thanks to Raife and all who forged easy to follow upgrades. At least a 100% improvement in sound and my personal listening pleasure! :cheesygrin:Pass XP-10 preamp, Parasound A21 amp, Pioneer Elite DV-58AV (Ric Shultz modded), Audioquest Sky IC's, No longer need my Sunfire sub after mods...

Lot of good stuff here. It's good to see the family tradition is alive and keeps the kids off the streets. It even works in China. Go for it inspired sports.

The 60's were a great time to be growing up with music. My sons interest was a carryover. He got into classic rock right from the start. He in turn kept me in tune with 90's rock and beyond with the likes of Guns n Roses, Poison, and many others.

I always get a laugh driving by the Frat Houses on the Purdue campus on a Friday/Saturday night... All I hear is Zepellin/ZZ-Top/AC/DC, and Van Halen... I never hear anything else. Party music from the 1960's through the 80's is alive and well, even if it's been reduced to a file on an I-pod.
