Who has deals on Polk speakers?
Other than Newegg, Ebay, and mabye Onecall...who has some occasional deals on Polk RTi or RTiA line? I'm probibly not ready to buy right now, but I would hate for a great deal to pass me by just becasue I didn't know about it.
I've already signed up for Newegg and Onecall's online newsletter. I've been searching the forum for a few models i'm interested in and people are finding some great deals. Not too interested in Craigslist though...I kinda' like buying new and knowing that there wasn't a previous owner that didn't take care of their equipment.
Thanks

Call Polk and ask about there refurbs.

+1, sit on Polk's ebay site for a while and 'something' will turn up.
The same is true HERE. People are always selling Rtis on this site....in good shape and cheap.
www.crutchfield.com sells Rtis I think
And Best Buy Magnolia may have some? Haven't been in the states the last year.
www.jr.com also sells Rtis.

I'm a little concerned about refurbished units. On Polks website it says that only have a 2 year warranty, instead of a 5 year. And that they might have slight "cosmetic" dammage. I'm OK with a scratch here and there...but if one of the drivers is on it's way out, but currently working...i'm not too excited about that. I had my last speakers for a long time, if I like these I plan on keeping them for a long time as well.

most of the refurbs are still in great working condition. I have never heard yet of someone that got one with a bad driver ect. Even if you had a driver that failed all you would have to do is call up polk and they will take care of you, trust me, they will. They are one of the best companies to deal with for problem IMO and will take the extra step to help the customer.
The only thing I had on my RTiA9's that was damaged was there was a ding on the front of the cabinet, apart from that they were in perfect working order. The dig was from something that got shoved through the box and you don't even notice it with the grill on. Most people I Know have gotten stuff in perfect condition. -
^ +1. Some companies sell refurbs that look and work practically new. You would have a hard time distinguishing between new and refurbed. Polk is one such company. Also, since Polk's customer service is excellent, they would probably resolve any issue with a refurb that you have.
I would not hesitate to order a refurb from their Ebay site. Also, even if something isn't listed on Ebay that you are looking for, call them up and ask what they have. I heard some people getting lucky this way. -
Should I even be concerned with a warranty? I emailed Polk and they said "Speakers purchased from any unauthorized dealer will not have our standard warranty period of 5 years. You would be responsible for any charges for repairs that would need to be done".
I've never had to make a warranty claim with any of my speakers, and I think as long as you don't abuse your equipment...you should never have to. There are some sellers on ebay that are selling some brand new RTi speakers $100 cheaper then anywhere else...but I wouldn't have a warranty.
Do I buy refurbished with a two year warranty...or brand new with no warranty? -
Buy from Polk Direct on eBay.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

If you are only spending a few dollars then go for it on ebay but one must remember you have no clue of who these people or stores are. If you are planning on spending a few hundred dollars on speakers that you want around for awhile then why take a chance. Like others have said, look at polk direct on ebay. I am thinking about buying some used rti8s locally for little less than 300 for the pair and if I do get then you can bet I will see them and listen to them personally before I let a dollar go out of my hand. Again, its up to you but when you might be spending 500 dollars is saving 100 dollars on a set of speaker with no warranty really worth it? I just picked up a pair of rtia1s open box from vanns.com for 272 dollars which is 70 less then anywhere else and it is an authorized retailer of polk. Spend some time and look. Good luck

Doro ought to know.
And not to highjack this thread but there are some real nice deals on LSi bookshelves on the direct site. But I won't really be able to act till I get back home....late July maybe.
What do you think Doro....will some be 'left' by then?
To OP buy Polk from their own site with confidence!

I bought my RTi A7's for $694.00 at Sound Distributors. Authorized Polk internet seller. That was for the pair! Not each. Their add says they will beat or match anyone's price, so they did!. I have bought my RTiA7's and the FXiA6's from polk ebay and all looked brand new... not a blemish on them. I couldn't be happier! The boxes took a little beating, but the speakers were untouched. I highly recommend them!Denon 4311CI

One thing I would be concerned about with the not authorized e-bay sellers isn't so much that you won't have a warenty, I'd be worried they aren't even really polk speakers and rather some cheap knock off (ebay sellers are really good at getting the look right, but they will not sound right).
I mean if polk only sells to authorized resellers, then where are the unauthorized sellers even getting their stuff from? Makes you wonder. -
It's sounding like the safest bet is buying from Polks Ebay store. It is refurbished, but at lest i'll have a two year warranty, and if nothing happens in those first two years it probibly won't happen for a long time. Plus I know I will have genuine Polk equipment.
Now I just need to wait until they have what I want. Do they often have new stock on there Ebay store? Or do they get new stuff pretty slow? -

I guess you didn't see my post, Sound Distributors is an authorized internet seller for Polk, you can check right here on Polk's website. I bought a BRAND NEW pair of Rti a7's for less than you will on Polk's ebay store, Full 5 year warranty, and no shipping either. You can check their ebay store or go straight to their website www.sounddistributors.com.Polk RTi A7's FrontPolk CSi A4 CenterPolk Tsi 100's SurroundOnkyo TX-RZ50:)Oppo BDP 83 (Collecting dust)MIT Terminator 3 Speaker CableMIT Terminator 2 IC's (Oppo 2 chan)Signal Cable HT TWOEpson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080Hisense 55 U8GBelkin PF 60 Power Center -

I saw your post, and looked through there web site, but they didn't have the particular speakers i was looking for. I filled out there "product request form", and i'm still waiting to hear back from them. Thanks for the heads up. -
I just heard back form sounddistributors and they don't carry anything in the older RTi line. And there stuff in the RTiA line is about the average price as everywhere else. I just emailed them back to see if they have any good deal on the current line up.

Well, find a better deal on ebay, then see if they will match it. That's what I did. Another online retailer was selling a pair for 694, but was not an authorized dealer, and soundistributors matched the price. If you go to their ebay store, they usually say make an offer.Polk RTi A7's FrontPolk CSi A4 CenterPolk Tsi 100's SurroundOnkyo TX-RZ50:)Oppo BDP 83 (Collecting dust)MIT Terminator 3 Speaker CableMIT Terminator 2 IC's (Oppo 2 chan)Signal Cable HT TWOEpson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080Hisense 55 U8GBelkin PF 60 Power Center -
I bought my center channel from sounddistributors. The price on their website and e-bay store wasn't that great, but I sent them an e-mail and they were willing to come down from their advertised prices.

Hard to beat Polk's eBay store. I recently purchased a MicroPRO 2000 sub there. The box it was shipped in took a little beating. However, it's contents were in perfect condition. Brand new in every way as far as I can tell.

Polk's Ebay store would be first option, if you have a Fry's within driving distance I would recommend them. They discount items big time when they are on clearance. Frys.com does ship and on occasion they do have good sales.Setup:

Go to Polk's eBay store. I Just picked up a micropro 2000 and a centre channel speaker for substantially reduced prices.. They shipped the items in the OEM boxes clear across the continent for next to nothing without a mark to the box. These are refurbs but come with a full warranty. Both look brand spanking new and work flawlessly.

Thanks for the tip, I was constantly checking the Polk Ebay store for what I wanted...but I already bought some towers from a local dealer for a good price. But they do not come with a full warranty. It's 5 years on new equipment, and 2 years on refurbished equipment. -
6ave.com is another possibility, especially when they have their "name your price" promotion which happens on occasion. Their last promo ended just last week, and I was able to get a pair of cherry RTi A7's for 67% of MSRP (not sure if I can mention price on this thread). They arrived in 100% mint condition in HUGE double-boxing - anyone need 5,000 cu ft of packing peanuts?
BTW, 6ave is an authorized dealer, if you search their B&M stores on the Polk website...so full factory warranty would apply.Main HT:JVC DLA-RS45135" Elite Screens fixed frame, 1.1 gainMarantz SR7007 (operating as pre-pro)Emotiva XPA-1 x3 (L+C+R), UPA-7 (surrounds)Oppo BDP-103D/BDP-83Toshiba HD-XA2Panamax M5410 Pro x3Polk LSiM707s, LSiC706, 80 F/X-LS, 65-RTSeaton Sound/MCCA MFW "Turbo" + custom Dayton SA1000 sub amp (orig. Hi all,
After several month on the TV thread (it's now done), I'm looking to get a good sound. Budget not too high right now, so I would go more with a 2 front speaker setup and a sub with an amp for starters.
Here's some question though. I've read in a lot of post to use the same center as the front speakers to get same sound. Surrond are just for effect, so I'm not worrying about them. If I planned to buy to speaker, is it a bad choice to not get a matching center or I could get another with the same specs later.
And waht are your suggestion? Don't want to go too hogh on price. Futureshop seems to have a deal on Polk M300 (299$, 300$ off they say) and on some Yamaha, and then some athena.
I'm a real newbie on sound, so any good advice appreciated. I'm looking later to get a blueray or HD-DVD, so something that could make me enjoy the sound of uncromprss HD sound would be awesome.
Looking at the end for a 5.1, not a 6 or 7.1.
