I have been thinking about getting this amplifier. The person is asking $200. It is about 7 years old. Anyone have any feedback on this amp?

Will the amp be able to reproduce my HD sound from Yamaha RX-V1065 receiver? Sorry, but I don't know much about amplifiers haha.

It will power any speakers far better than your receiver.

I think a new amp would be better

Try an emotiva as they have amazing power and a five year warrant

A 7 yr old Carver is a new amp. They last along time if there's nothing wrong with them. Emo's with the warranty are more problematic. Not a bad amp, but there are quite a few warranty swaps or repairs.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

Definately nothing wrong with a 7 year old amp. I had a 10 year old parasound for a while and it worked just like new.

I own 3 emotiva amps and have never had a single issue with any of them, so I don't know if I necessarily agree with them being problematic. As with any brand, there will always be a handful that have issues.

That's great...my comments are based on some of the posts I see, but mainly it's that of the small group of folks I personally talk to that have Emos, love them, but have had a channel problem. binding post or cosmetic issue. They were taken care of, but that's still a high percentage (100%) of problems in a very small group that I interface locally, not on forums. I certainly wouldn't recommend a pass on the product because there are alot of happy campers.

This just proves that $$ matters, sometimes. I looked at the Emos website and their prices are, well, cheap compared to others I have looked at used. I would rather skip the problems, all %100 percent of them if at all possible. I have been looking into Carver, Adcom, and Mcintosh for starters. Any others that provide the quality and quantity sound as these brands do?

Grab the Carver for that price. It is a steal. The Sunfire 200wpc models would be a nice fit as well.

You are welcome to drop by and hear my rig if you like.

I don't really make it over that way but maybe once or twice a year, but thank you for the offer. However, I see you have some what of the same setup as I have. If you know of anyone who has any FXi surrounds they want to get rid of I'm looking for a pair.
