Hey, everyone. Wasn't sure what section to put this under. So here it is.
Just bought a new house. We move in 17 days! New theater room is about 15 x 11. It is a finished room in the basement with your typical drop ceiling grid (2 x 2 tiles?) The other part of this equation is a wife and son upstairs! :)
What are some ideas as to how to really soundproof this room (specifics) myself (economically) without building a concrete bunker around the room? Thanks for your help.

Denon AVR 591
Polk TSi 300's
Polk CS10
Polk OWM3's
Polk PSW 110
Sony PS3

2" blue or pink styrofoam shoved in the floor joist will help but keep in mind HVAC ductwork can act like a speaker to all the rooms above

The more weight up there the better. A couple layers of drywall would help a lot.
    Vinyl, the final frontier...

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D

demo the drop ceiling, add a product called safe and soud insulation between the flloor joist.....then put sound proof drywall up....its a new product its equivalent to seven layers of drywall...not sure of the name....i would do the same to the walls

If you are able to do this, give this product a look. I saw the episode of Holmes on Homes it worked well.
