Americans always need an excuse to complain about something. People generally dislike change. The bottom line is, this won't affect the average user.
I'm all for it, and I think assimilated summed it up beautifully. I might even step out of my Unlimited plan to pinch a few pennies. Haven't exceeded 200MB yet. -
You hear about the guy that emailed AT&T's CEO bitching about the new rate plans? He was warned he would be served with a Cease and Desist order if he persisted.

Verizon and AT&T seem like theyre getting too big for their britches these days. Maybe Sprint aint looking so bad. I may switch over. So what if I will only have service if Im on a freeway. Id be standing on principles! Haha!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

There is no nor was there ever an unlimited AT&T data plan. It's false advertising. I've had their unlimited data plan for a while now. If you read the fine print you'd see it's capped. I forget what it is 2gb or 3gb. I've exceeded the limit a few times and was very annoyed as i was out of town trying to work. After exceeding the limit i was shut down with no access to the net. This meant i had to find a Starbucks for wi-fi. Sure enough the AT&T program didn't work. Spent many hours on the phone with them trying to correct the issue. 2k later, new laptop and air card finally got me back up and running. Yes it's that important for work that i can't afford to not be online. I was very frustrated.
I think they're going in the right direction by saying they won't have an unlimited plan. That way they'll stop being sued for false advertising by people like me that were effected financially because they exceeded the cap.Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 2007

I just went and checked out my data usage from the day I got my first "smartphone" (in february). In the first month I used around 700mb, and ever since then i've used an average of 500mb a month.
I don't do much besides email, text (which aren't counted as data), and download the occasional app. All that adds up really fast, so I can see how someone a lot more active on their phones could easily hit over 1-2GB.
However, I do still think that those people are the vast minority."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. There's no way all you're doing is emailing and "downloading the occasional app" and getting 500MB a month. It really doesn't add up that fast. I do way more with my iPhone and have only twice hit 200MB /month....If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I guarantee you that is all I do. I occasionally (and by that I mean maybe once a day) browse the web for a couple minutes, but I certainly don't do anything intensive like video streaming, besides the rare youtube clip a couple times a month.
I get a lot of emails though, some of them with attachments over 1MB in size, so I'm sure that helps to push the total up.
I'm just going by what Verizon shows that i've used. And when i'm at home i'm always on my wireless, so that number isn't including all that I do from home which is where I usually download apps."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men.
