I'd like to take a poll and see what you guys think. Since I joined this forum I have discovered that you guys have a wealth of knowledge and experiences. I know that sound is a personal choice but I need you feedback.
I just got a nice pair of SDA-2A's, they sound pretty good, I also have a pair of Monitor 70's (7 mos old) and a pair of LSi 7's. I will be keeping 2 pairs. If you were me, which pair of speakers would you part with?

If you are keeping speakers for music and for HT, then I would keep the LSi7's for music and the Monitor 70's for HT. If there's no possibility of adding a good musical sub to the LSi7's for a music focused system, then I would consider keeping the SDA-2A's for music. You've got good speakers to choose from, a lot is going to depend on what you will be using them for. We also don't know what gear you've got to run them, which could also alter the recommendations.

And let the SDA fanatics start the bashing! Yes, I would keep the LSi7's paired with a good musical sub over the SDA-2A's. And yes, I owned SDA-2A's for many years. And yes I own LSi7's and good sub(s) to use with them. So I'm hiking up my big boy panties and sticking to that recommendation.

since Lsi7 is already XO modded, it makes sense even more to keep them....you just got SDA 2 and monitor 70

    just keep all three...

Hey Lietuvis91, the M70's are black, they may be the ones that go. However, shipping these bad boys may cost a good .01

Keep the LSi's and the SDA's.

    No contest.

The Monitor 70's are pretty nice speakers, but they can't stand up to the LSi's or SDA's for either 2 channel or HT IMO.

The more I listen, the more confused I get regarding which speakers to keep. To me the Lsi7 and SDA are superior for music. But I really like the M70's for HT and music. M70's seem like a great utility speaker that would be good both ways. I'm thinking I can get a lot of mileage out of them. I just got the SDA's and they are starting to grow on me for music (had not considered for HT).
Nooshinjohn and comfortablycurt thanks, I have read alot of your previous post and value your opinions as informed and knowledgeable.

I still would like more opinions, I guess I just like the versitility of the 70's

You've got three pretty different and nice speakers there. I agree with you M-70s can do double duty...but the LSis are really better for music (I like the 7s quite a bit in the configuration dkg999 suggests above!)

The question I have is what 'shape' are your SDA's in because if they're not modded and need work you need to consider the cost and what you're willing to put into them. Are they better than the M-70s..sure..with the RDO-194 replacement. I have SDA-2Bs with the SL2000 and the M-70 tweeter sounds better to me..smoother. But certainly the SDAs put out more sound, better bass and then there's the effect?

    Tough call.

    cnh,
you make a great point about the M70 vs SDA. I wasn't clear to me until u said it, but M70 tweeter is much better, but SDA puts out more sound. I guess that's where I'm having difficulty. I am not really a bass head but do need some to round out the bottom end of the spectrum. Also the SDA are not modded. Is it a dramatic difference in the modded SDA?

I assume that your SDA's still have the stock SL2000 tweeters...if so, upgrade them to the RD0-194's!! They're a vastly superior sounding tweeter. If you swap the 194's into your SDA's, you won't be preferring the highs from your M70's any longer.;)

IMO, out of those three speakers...the SDA's would be the best for pulling HT/2 channel double duty.

I've never heard the LSi7 or Monitor 70 (In a real listening environment...meaning, not Fry's or Circuit City demo rooms), but I've heard the SDA 2A and I think you'll be happy with your choice.

Oh Yeah! The SDA 2's with the new tweeters! That will be best IMHO. I think you made the right choice.

John & Doug, thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm trying to hone in on some rdo194 tweets and move on to better listening. Has anyone had the original tweeters and then the rdo194's in their SDA-2a's? Can you tell me how much of a difference it made for you
