Welcome back! I haven't seen you around since the old forum! Where have you been hiding?
Aaron -
Hi DH:
How do you like the Denon 4802? I am thinking about upgrading to one. It is either the Pioneer Elite VSX39 or the Denon 4802.
Gary -
So far I think the 4802 is totally sweet!! Its actually kinda funny though..................One of the most useful features (to me) is the added component video inputs as my TV only has one.
And i admit, I've been neglecting the Polk forum for quite a while now. I promise to make myself more noticeable though (I just got a new 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T so I've been over in the 2gstrat forum) -
HEY! My Stratus just got stolen...
Some joyriders got a car full of sound equipment, too. The punks.
MC -
Micah, what happened, man? When? Insurance taking care of you?
Aaron -
A Dodge Stratus. What the heck do car thieves need with a Dodge Stratus?! Parked right at my doorstep, too. Pried the door open and drove it off.
Balto City Cops found it (I love cops, I really do) one day later, 8 blocks away, with $2400 in damage. Insurance (State Farm) treated me awesome, gave me great service. As did Alamo rental car -- brought the rental car to my door, picked it up when I was done! And my Dodge dealer fixed it pronto. Everyone gave me the kind of service you usually only dream about.
Now, I just have to get a system put in it. I'm tired of listening to the "concrete symphony." Never thought I'd be so hooked on car audio.
And they caught the punk who did it! I have to appear in court next week as a state's witness against the guy! DEATH PENALTY!
MC -
State Farm is great. They came thru for me like a champ when a lady turn left infront of me and totalled my Toyota 4x.
Good Luck Micah, bummer to hear about your car being stolen.
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
All things considered it sounds like it went "smoothly." I guess their slogan is true: "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there."
Aaron -

Sucky thing is, it was a DODGE. What kind of loser steals a DODGE STRATUS? Especially, sitting on a block with Audis and BMWs and Volkswagens and stuff. A DODGE?!
They prolly pried the doors open AND THEN discovered the sound system and the amp and sub in the trunk and tore it all apart, mothereffers. They rammed it against some other car and messed up the passenger side and front wheel.
And then they tore the amp off its spot -- how come thieves don't use screwdrivers? Using a screwdriver would have been easier than forcing the stupid thing off its moorings. Idiots.
The state's attorney I spoke to on the phone (about my upcoming court date) sounded so darned cute, too, like one of those young TV drama show female lawyers... And then she mentions, in the course of conversation, "Oh, my husband blah blah blah..." After that everything sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher. But at least they caught the sumbitch that messed up my car.
Bastid. I feel so voilated!
Last week, someone else's car was stolen off my block. Gotta move out of the city!
MC -
Micah, sorry to hear about the theft and damage. Perhaps Polk should relocate to Raleigh, crime is lower here
-
To be honest I did actually have 5.1 gaming before. I upgraded from a yamaha RXV992 to the 4802. But 7.1 gaming is a whole other story.
As far as your strat getting stolen WHAT A BUMMER!! However what the hell do you mean "its a dodge" "what kind of loser steals a dodge"??? Now AUDI and BMW mabye but VW? HELL NO..I'd rather drive a grocery cart than a VW. Cmon give the Strat. some credit here. Personally I have two other cars.a Saturn SC2 and a Cougar and I'd rather drive the Strat then either of the others.
Sorry about that I just get all worked up when people talk down about the wonderful 2001+ Strat.

Micah,
Dude, I am bummed about your car getting stolen but you do tell it in an amusing way.....
I have found State Farm to be very good, and our agent is such a babe!
Personally l think that if you steal anything more than 50 bucks in value, they should lop off a limb. At least the Arab's got that right....
TroyI plan for the future. - F1Nut -
my ex mother in law works for the corprete office in illinois. you want to know why your rates are so high, you schould see there offices in bloomington ill.
scott -
micah, i feel your pain. my VW got broken into while at IKEA about 3 weeks ago, don't know if anyone is familiar with the ikea in norristown, PA, but that parking lot is always packed, i drove around for 5 minutes just to find someone pulling out of a spot so i could park. the real kick in the d**k, is that this is the second time my car audio has been yanked in 6 months. i think i'm just leaving a hole in the dash now. probably selling the infinity speakers(they didn't get those). i'm with erie ins., they were great too! and i only pay $562 a year for full coverage. the whole thing when someone takes your stuff is so aggrevating. at least they caught your man. kick him in the nuts for me-as a message to all the stupid theives out there. thanks!
-
Actually, my rates are not that high, considering I have a new car (bought new 2000, my first new car ever), and considering I live in the inner city. I've been with State Farm since I learned to drive, so about 17 years or so. I have a perfect driving record, so even GEIKO can't beat my State Farm rates!
Don't get me wrong, I really like my Stratus. It's lean and mean looking, for a cheap car, and drives great. I only wish a] that the seat went back farther and the windshield was longer over the top of the car (there are times when I stop at lights and can't see the damned light swinging above me, I have to lean all the way forward over the steering wheel, and I'm a SHORT guy!), and I wish 2] that it was my killer 8 cylinder 85 Chevy Impala, which I miss! (It died like The Bluesmobile.)
The only reason I mention VW is because it seems like every little hipster and chippy on the road is driving a Jetta or something. They're everywhere. Wouldn't you steal that before you steal a Dodge?
Funny thing, there are babes in my State Farm office, too. Corporate policy? We should have that corporate policy here at Polk.
MC -
If those Infinity speakers are Kappa's, I may be interested. Let me know.
Aaron -
the 6x9's in the rear are infinity ref., i have 3.5's up front that are kappa's.
-
Before we were married, my wife lived in a apt. She drove a 83' Honda Civic, POS and it was a POS. Anyway, one night someone popped the door and took the PEP-BOYS special am/fm cassette deck, a whole $40 value, but left the $175 pair of Alpine speakers. I laughed.
Two nights later, they took the entire car, that was a blessing. I don't think they ever found it.
We just bought a Toyota Sienna a couple months ago and our rates are very good.
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I was hoping you'd have something in the 5.25-6.5" range, preferably components. Thanks anyway.
Aaron -
no problem, i'm not sure what i am doing with them yet anyway.
-
Ok, I'm a bit confused here.how much did you get your Strat for? Is it the R/T? And if you consider that cheap I'd like to know what you consider to be in the"not so cheap" range...........cause personally I consider a 12,000$ Focus cheap.not a 25,000 $ Strat.
Sorry, its just that my Strat. is my nicest vehicle and I don't wanna be considered cheap. -
and I would of got away with it too if it weren't for those medeling kids.
Well, see you in court.

Hey Gary, I've seen the new Pioneer VSX 49TX, it looks real cool, has a lot of fire power and the new THX2 certified.:) Check it out at the pioneer website. -
Mellow out Darkhorse! My new 2000 Strat was way under $15K, and I got that cheap-o Chrysler 0.9% financing, which is like them giving me money to buy their car.
I love my Strat! I'm a cheap car guy because cars just aren't important to me. I have other priorities. (I'm not sure what they are, but I have them.)
MC -
Seabring is MUCH better than the Stratus in my Opinion...Course I got the Cheap Seabring...
Seabring LXi Sedan...I didn't even get the convertable...It sucks to be practicle sometimes... -
The Sebring's nice, but I needed a 4 door with a sizeable trunk. Can't get used to tiny cars after growing up on a Chevy Impala. The Stratus was the largest car I could afford. Big truck, more comfortable ride than the Ford Taurus, or whatever else.
I wish I had an Impala SS.
MC -
That is my car. 4 door with a sizeable trunk...What ones were you looking at?
-
Well... My Strat is 4 door with a sizeable trunk... Best one I found.
I miss the big giant car.
MC -
Don't get me wrong Micah. I'm plenty mellow, I just really like my Strat! (and my HT, and my PC and my blah blah blah blah) ahem............. I have no ill will towards anyone I guess I just get worked up pretty easy Which Strat do you ahve BTW. And where did you find it for 15k
