Using CS1s as fronts

Hi all,
I have a crazy plan to use a pair of CS1 centers as fronts for my living room audio because I have an extra CS1 sitting around. I had originally planned to sell the extra CS1 but I'm thinking of buying a second because they're exactly the right shape to fit in the raised corner of my living room above the fireplace.

I just wanted to ask first: will a pair of CS1 speakers work well at moderate to low listening levels? Or would it be much smarter to shop for a pair of bookshelf speakers and sell the extra CS1 as I originally intended?

Not for TV but for "background music" while having good conversation in the living room. I would have them hooked up to a stereo receiver.

So new bookshelves or a pair of CS1s? What differences are there?

I'm reading the specs and I see 55Hz - 25kHz so I should be able to use these CS1s for almost all music that would make good background during a conversation.

I'm going to hook the one I have up in mono and see how it sounds. Should tell me a bunch. I'm planning to use a y-splitter in reverse to join the left and right channels from the CD player and the run everything through the front left. Will this work?

I've done many iterations of the dual center. it works, it can work pretty good, though I've learned it is not a replacement for one very good center.

though I'll say if it isnt in the budget, go for it. when you upgrade own the road save up, and go big on the center front. centers are often overlooked in importance to a good home theater.

for your specific application of background music? it will be more than fine.
