So, I was on Audiogon and found a pair of Audioquest Snake ICs...Planned on using them for my subwoofer.
Well, I payed with paypal the $25 that he wanted, and when I got back I noticed I had $189...I check my logs and it seems that when I bought my car stuff that I had canceled out at the last moment because I thought something was wrong (Turns out it all fit, and it sent anyway) and I got the stuff last friday....but I am wondering why the returned the money....
Should I keep it and just move on...or should I call the company up and ask the what is going on?
I am very stumped, I can't figure out why they sent the money back, i clearly have the stuff, I mean, I bought new lights and a new mirror for my passenger side, and I also got new grill since mine was broken in an accident.
Anyone else find this odd, or have a way of explaining what happened.
One thing is that I had ordered through ebay, and I have nothing on ebay about it so maybe that's why?

The honest thing to do would be to call the company. Of course, it's your call....literally. If it was me, I would call if I wasn't supposed to recieve the money back or I didn't know what was going on with the situation. If nothing else, call and find out what's going on.

Well, I have looked and it seems they don't have a phone number.
I sent them an email... I don't think they would be able to do anything. Mostly I am confused...

First start by contacting paypall for them to explain the returned money. Then and only then if this was found to be an error you exactly know what to do, right?

I agree with Joe.....They may realize their mistake down the road and if your PayPal is connected to your checking account/credit card, you may find yourself out the money in the future and not know it.

Gave me a number to call, will have to wait until Tuesday to find out. This is just way to odd.

If paypal doesn't know, it definitely look like the sellers mistake. You are doing the right thing and I hope you'll be able to get it fix on Thuesday.

Just wait a few days. Sometimes the payments go out at pending, then they drop for a day or two, then they post as completed for the correct amount.

I may wait until the end of the week just to see if they figure it out you know?

Let's see. You've received something that you've been refunded for and you want to wait to see if they figure it out because it is "odd"? What you are contemplating is basically retail theft. You've received an item that you didn't pay for.

If you don't do the right thing and make sure that it is paid for properly then I have no respect for you.

The seller will be in touch and wondering what happened to his money. As was said, sometimes it takes a while for the accounts to settle. I'm sure you'll try to settle up with the seller.

What I meant by figuring it out was this.
It would be so much easier if they would figure out that they miscalculated somewhere and that they sent me a product after a refund anyway. Then send me a bill on PayPal, that way I don't have to go head hunting and monger finding you know?
Hopefully when Tuesday comes they will realized their mistake and that way I don't look like an idiot say did you refund my money? Yeah...um take it back!
Main thing is I have no clue why they would have done it in the first place...I mean I bought it, sent payment within minutes, relieved items in a very well packaged manor, and everything was a perfect fit and mint, all better than what I had before. Plus shipping was super quick.
So that is what is so confusing I just hope you all wish me luck since I have no order numbers to go by or anything.

Dave, I think PC has the right thing in mind here. It seems and I agree that there is a SNAFU somewhere and I agree he should wait for a bill or invoice so that he has something to show that he did indeed pay. By not doing this they could claim he never paid up and double dip. He has made it clear that he wants to pay but there will be no record so he's just being careful.

None of this matters, if you payed by PayPal you can refund the money back to them simple as that and it's off your mind ;)

Well, about the canceling out, I had thought that a part was wrong because I had seen 1992 instead of 1995 which was what my car really is, so I had canceled out really quickly, then went back and saw that I had paid for it.
Well, on my transaction history, it says,
    Payment sent to AM Auto.
    Funds transfer from bank.
    Reversal from AM Auto
    Hold
    Complete
Yet I still have the stuff.
I never thought of just sending them the money...how would they know where it came from though?

OK. Understand that even in this fast-paced almost instantaneous Internet world, sometimes there are still lags in the PayPal system.

I'm guessing the folks saw your order and shipped it on its way before the cancellation came through. PayPal does not allow for the seller to "undo" a refund so they will need to bill you again and you will need to pay again.

If the company is large enough to have a separate shipping and accounting department, the front office may not even yet be aware that you received merchandise without paying for it, but eventually they will figure it out and come knocking.

Just curious . . . If you did just decide to just send them money, wouldn't you attempt to identify yourself, a description of the parts you are paying for and the date of the original transaction ???

I will call first thing in the morning. Hopefully the paypal lady gave me the right number,
Everything you do with PayPal the money you sent and they refunded you will be linked to the original transaction number showing how much and what it was for, you also have the option of adding a message if you like when you send money, so you can explain if you wish the error of their refund to you, as mentioned it is only a matter of time before the parts sent "inventory gone" and money refunded gets noticed it may be a week or 6 months but it will be caught.

BTW it looked to me the money refunded was on hold anyhow from your earlier post.
