I guess this review is really for packetjones:D, Only listened for about an hour of 2 chan, well, let's just say there was a very noticeable difference over my 100wpc Denon AVR 2600. Man, I have been out the game to long! I almost believed the Denon was doing really well....not. I'm sure it's doing better than the current Denons' in 2 chan, but I digress.
So, the first thing that was very obvious was the soundstage, imaging, placement, depth, and height. With emphasis on placement:)
The second thing was the "brightness" went away on the A7's. More natural so far, but that's subjective to the listener.
Bass dramatically improved, cleaned up, and fuller. Very accurate.
Mid range was beautiful.
The true test came on a great song that I use to audition equipment. Joe Satriani, "Bamboo". The track requires any amp or speaker to do so many things at once. Deep lows, but very precise, a lot of delicate, subtle brush strokes on the snare drum, varying degrees of cymbals, from quiet to full crash, very powerful snare notes, and of course Joe's plucking.
Being a former musician I probably listen to different things than others, and I have a unique auditory memory.
Now, grant it, some recordings are ****! ..John Mayer "Heartbreak Warfare"..comes to mind, the only thing recorded good was his voice, drums, bass, are horrible.
But anyway, Satriani's "Is There Love in Space" is great demo album for rock purposes.
Then it was off to Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell". A couple tracks only, the best way to describe it, was the curtains were opened..overall everything just became more precise, full bodied, and open.
Did about an hour HT with Jurassic Park(showing on HD movie chan), needless to say the Rex footstep introduction was impressive! I also had watched this a few days ago with just the Denon, no where even close to the same.
So that is all for now! It will be a few days before I can sit down and do some really critical listening! Have a great weekend all!
And to all my fellow former and active Marine brothers..Semper Fi and happy Memorial Day!
And to the rest of you that settled for second best..Happy Memorial Day also!:D....I kid ! I kid!

Thanks for the review. It is always good to get another persons opinion. I am still looking forward to adding an amp to my setup, not sure when it will happen though. I have heard nothing but good things about these carver amps.
