OK, another SRT hookup question:
The SRTs can be connected to an amplifier two different ways:
1. One amp channel drives the stereo array and another amp channel drives the SDA array. Each array is 8 ohms.
2. One amp channel drives both arrays simultaneously. The combined arrays are 4 ohms.
I am using 2 Parasound HCA 1200 II amps which deliver 205 wpc @ 8 ohms X 2 or 300wpc @ 4 ohms each. The amps also have a feature called Dual "Half Stereo" Mode. In this mode, only one channel of the amp is used which allows the amp to provide 250wpc @ 8Ohms or 450 wpc @ 4 ohms.
My question. Should I:
1. Use a Y cable, split the pre-out signal for the L/R channels and amp each driver array at 205 wpc @ 8ohms
OR
2. Use half stereo mode on each amp, connect both arrays in each tower (which = a 4 ohm load) to a single set of speaker outputs on the amp and have a total of 450wpc @ 4ohms for each tower?
