A great Saturday afternoon!

Jerry Rausch drove down from Denver yesterday and we spent the afternoon cranking up all kinds of different music in the HT on both my gear and his! He brought his Adcom amp, Parasound DAC and pre-amp! We listened to all kinds of music, both his and mine and really gave the Lsi's a work out. I proud to say that my Outlaw amp held it's own, but that Adcom can really drive the Lsi's!! We connected his gear & my DV-47a player to the 15's and let 'em rip. HOLY CRAP!! I've been using my Sunfire MkII for all of the low frequency duties, but for straight 2 channel the 15's were amazing all by themselves! I even learned a thing or 2 from our little jam session. I've always been a big believer in Toslink over digital coax, NO MORE!! I sat down and tried to open my mind as well as my ears, and was amazed to hear the coax blow away the Toslink for sound quality! Yes...I admit that I've been wrong on this subject for years!! When optical connectors first hit the market, I, like many others, thought "this is great...a pure digital signal, what could be better than that?!?" Well, a signal via coax is MUCH better! I noticed a dramatic increase in the mid-range, much smoother sound, nice and warm, the highs were not as over pronounced as the toslink signal was. HMMMM....old dog, new tricks...yeah it can happen!
