As of right now, there's no way I could maintain a Facebook account and stay involved in the forum..., so I choose CP!

Less privacy concerns, no old "friends" from way back finding me here...

    +1

Sandy has clear instructions to shoot me in the head if I ever do Facebook or tweet.

Yeah, the thread about posting Polk events on Facebook got me thinking... Are any of the people with high post counts here also Facebookers? I can't imagine. Although, I must admit, my kids are constantly encouraging me to take the plunge. Is resistance futile?

I've been thinking of some sort of token presence there, but I certainly don't have the time for the "effort" some people put into it.

I use facebook but started when I was in college. Most of you on here are much older than I and I assure you, facebook has lost its luster. I haven't changed my picture in about 3 years or made any sort of edits... only responses to people inviting me to things and what-not. I comment and socialize far more here than by facebook.

What kind of "effort" does it take? I check it twice a day to see what's going on with my friends / acquaintances. Takes me longer to check my email, and certainly longer to go through the posts here.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

It's the mental effort - all the "learning" about features and functions (and trust me, I'm pretty computer literate and savvy). Figuring out what is and isn't shared with the world, etc... I want it to look just so, because if it's my online presence, it says something about me. Maybe I really AM an idiot... I just don't want everybody knowing that. ;)

I also have concerns about sharing my family life and connections online. I know I can choose to leave things out, but I know that my kids will want to be "friends"... It's draining me just thinking about it! :o

I've had a Myspace for 4-5 years or so...but almost never use it at all anymore. All of my friends have been yelling at me for a while to make a Facebook...so I finally made one the other night. I haven't even logged back on it yet.

Everyone's telling me that it's WAY better than Myspace...but from what I've seen, it's basically the exact same thing, with a slightly different layout.

I basically just made it to get my friends to stop yelling at me...lol
