Automatic power off on PSW505

Hello,
I have my PSW505 set to automatic; it's supposed to power off after 15 minutes. I've noticed the red light behind it is always on. Does this mean it is not powering off...or does it just stay on all the time? How do I know if it is actually switching to standby mode or off mode? Should I still unplug it when I am away for a long period of time....even though it supposedly switches off with no input signal detected? Thanks.

    First off welcome to the CP.

    I am not sure on the 505 exactly, but on my PSW110, the red light means that it is off. Mine turns green when it is on. Does the yours turn a different color at all or is it always red. i am sure that some of the other 505 owners will chime in shortly.

    I believe the way it works is that when the light is red, it indicates the sub is in standby mode waiting for a signal to turn itself on. It then goes green. When you shut your system down, the light will stay green for 10 or 15 minutes. If no signal is sensed in that time, it goes back to the red standby mode again.

    Yep, I have the sub. And you are correct. Red means that it is in standby mode, much like your tv, most tvs come with a lighted display, mine is a vizio and has a gold display while it is off, and a white when on. So green means it is active receiving a signal while red means it is waiting for one. It takes about 15 minutes for it to turn red, but really its more of that "Phantom Power" that you are using when its in standby
