Sunfire power meter question

Please part with your knowledge and help the helpless out,I've done some searching and don't seem to be able to find an answer. My sunfire Grand Cinema power meter is always on 400 joules when powered up. This seems to be normal but I don't understand why or the purpose thereof. Is the meter intended to stay here and not move from this position? If so what good is it? Thanks for your help.

    Meter
The front panel meter indicates the total energy available from the tracking
downconverter power supply. It is calibrated in Joules and will normally indicate approximately 480 Joules for the Signature Edition and 400 Joules for the Standard Edition. Note that it does not move under normal use.

Welcome Grasshopper. That is the normal operation when on. It does NOT bounce around. It's purpose is to have "audiophiles" point it out to friends to say "isn't this cool?" LOL.;):D

I read somewhere if the needle moves,Which is HIGHLY doubtfull with any known speakers, you might want to switch to more efficient speakers or check the wiring. And also, I think the amp should trip your breaker before the needle moves.

I think Bob Carver just didn't know how to meter with watts the current that flows through, not from, his amp design.

I drive my 4 ohm SRS's with one and it just stays above room temp. All day long, day after day it just amazes me.

These SRS's would heat my Integra M502 to stove top med. high tempertures in no time at all.

I & several others wish Bob had put output meters on the Sunfire amps....ah well. They do put out PRODIGIOUS current~

I have a sunfire sig II running carver amazing originals that dip down to 1 ohm and that are very inefficient. I only saw the meeter slightly move once during pink floyd welcome to the machine ( the beginning of that song) and when it moved,,, well both fuses pooped on the amazings LOL.

 I wonder what the desibel reading in your room was at.

    Awsome story.

Another guy told me he had crown amps pushing 4 klipsch horns, and I'm sure they were under an influence of some kind, but when Pink Floyds arial dog fight song came to the explosion...His patio door shattered!:D Holy moly, crap my pants, that must have been awsome.

WOW all 3 are present original plat and 3's LOL. Just missing the silvers!!! You had it running all at the same time? WOW!!

Actually it was not that loud as the ALS originals are not efficient at all. but anyone that has not experienced the bass on Floyd's welcome to the machine intro you are missing out. It is intense!

As crazy is it sounds, it takes my Carver amazings to run on the 625 x 2 sunfire close to all out to match the volume of my SDA 1.2's on my McIntosh 2105 running at 110 per!!!!! ok so actually the SDA is actually louder on the McIntosh. BIG efficiency difference on the 2 speakers.
