Just did this to mine, safe and also helpful.
Reset the PRAM to speed things up:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Blow out all the dust without opening it up:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23049/smcfancontrol
Download. Run it. Might need to open it twice. Go to Preferences and turn up all the fans max. SAVE. See the dust come flying out. Quit and trash.
Open Applications>Utilties>Disk Utility:
Run Repair Permissions. Finish.
Run Verify Disk.
If there are errors then restart from your startup disk and repair. Whew! good you caught it sooner!
Lastly, go listen to music!

interesting. Does it work with Macbook Pro late '08 version too?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

You mean Cinch? It'll run on any Intel Mac with Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6.
It's free to try, you'll love it! Well worth the $7 bucks.
For the other suggestions, yes, they'll work fine on any Mac.
