there is a used good condition CSi 5 center that i can get for $100. good price considering I paid nearly $200 for a refur/new direct from polk ebay. But right now, I already have CSi5/Rti8s setup. What do you think if i add another one to the system? would it sound and look overkill?

yes, I have enough power and space for them all. right now I am using a 5 channel HK PA5800 amp 80wpc

I guess my first question is why exactly do you want two center channels? You would be better off getting a bigger amp than 80wpc.

i think 80wpc of HK brand is enough to drive them. they're easy to drive afterall.

You could use one of them as a rear center in a 6.1 set-up.

HK underrates their gear. 80WPC from HK is plenty

What application do you have in mind for the second CSi5? A second center channel?

If so, I'd say it'd be a waste of time IMO. Using multiple center channels is an invitation for phasing and cancellation issues...and it isn't really necessary. A single CSi5 is MORE than capable of carrying out center channel duty.

You'd get a bigger improvement from upgrading your amplification IMO. HK might underrate their gear, but 80 wpc still isn't a whole lot. Wattage isn't everything though, of course. I've found that the 100 wpc from my Adcom 545 is sufficient for nearly all of my 2 channel listening.

for $100 buy it and try it out. If you don't like the sound then you could always sell it.

I have a rear center channel, 6.1 set up.. It lets me receive the EX listening mode on my avr. I thought about setting up 7.1 vs 5.1 and the 6.1 was a happy compromise.

to bring up this old topic. I didn't buy that one. but today saw another one on CL for $75. really want to buy it to use the extra channel on the amp that I am not using anyway. I would think 2 CSI5s combined equal a killer center with 4 6.5" woofers and 2 tweeters...the idea of having a center with that many drivers is mouth watering.

but comfortablycurt said something about cancellation above.... anyone care to explain more....if 2 speakers are identical and wire the same. how are they cancelling out each other?
