ADCOM 7705 vs. Emotiva XPA5

Well my set up right now is
ONK PRE/PRO
a9s with 2 adcom 555se one for each speaker. I listen to a lot of music and i love this set up so i would never change that.
But for my 2 centers, side and rear surrounds, and height channels i have 2 adcom 7705s. The last to open channels run a pair of speakers in the next room for back round music. I paid a little over 3k for both those amps. I can get the emos for like $1600.
I guess i am worried about the SQ thru the center channels the most. I love the way every things sounds. It gets me excited if you know what i mean. Maybe i should just leave it alone because its all set up and calibrated. But $1500 is a whole lot of money for some other upgrades.Man Cave: 7.1

You just answered your own question. If you love it, why mess with it for a "possible" improvement.
Just sit down & enjoy some tunes! And find something else worthwhile to spend that $1500 on.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Everyone has to start somewhere. Outlaw Audio & Emotiva are good places to get an introduction to what seperate amplification can do for your speakers brand new at a price that won't bankrupt you.
At one time, I would never have considered getting a used piece of gear. It took me 15 years of having my original Rotel Pre/amp to realize most gear made by reputable companies will last for years.
Hence when I wanted to get back into seperates, I went with used.
Everyone hears things differently. People on here say that I should replace my tweeters because they sound bad. Well I have NEVER had any problems with them, they sound just fine to me & my system can/will be on all day long.
A lot on here say that the RTI series tweeter is very bright & when paired with some gear, like Emotiva, they get brighter which = fatigue. But as Xcapri pointed out above, he has NO problems with fatigue & he owns both RTI's & LSI's, and Emotiva amps.
A lot of people on here have moved WAY beyond entry level gear and are not interested in going back, hence their atitudes about Emotiva & Outlaw and steering newbies in other directions, namely the used market for what they consider better gear.
The bottom line is you have to decide what is important for YOU. There is no right or wrong answer, only what you want to achieve & at what price.
cfrizz,
I could not have said it better myself. As you can see in my sig I own emotiva and polk rtis. I do feel fatigue but I dont think it is my gear.
Actually set the system up for HT but since the addition of the amp, music gets the most air time. Dont get me wrong, I consider my system entry level/budget but it is the best I have owned and am pleased with it for now. If my budget would allow I would love to own higher end gear. Not sure why everyone talks about the emotiva hype. I view it as entry level seperates and it hits the mark. It gives us budgetphiles an option. Just like polk. Thank you Rad, you have put together a TERRIFIC system that will give you pleasure for YEARS to come. You have made sure that your current speakers & any others you get in the future will be operating to their full potential & have set yourself up well to branch out into getting a seperate preamp for an all seperates system in the future!
Well done & enjoy it. WELCOME to Club Polk!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Since you're driving RT series Polks and using them for music, you might want to look at something else that tames the tweets a bit better. Just switched from an Adcom to some Parasounds. they're a bit more laid back but the tweeters dont' get as harsh on the highs.____________________________________________________________

I own XPA-5 and XPA-3 amps among other Emotiva gear.
I can and do listen to music on my various LSi and RTi12 speakers all day powered by Emotiva.
There is no fatigue.
Are they the best? No. Are they the worst? No.
They simply offer better than average performance for a less than average price.
In other words they are a good value, just like Polk Audio.
Emotiva offers a 30 day trial. If you are interested, I suggest you give them a try.
If you don't like them send them back and move one to something else.
I did that, kept mine and purchased more.
I also am getting Adcom gear specifically for two channel listening.
The beauty of this hobby is that there is so much to choose from.
I like this guy.......now,everyone loves to bash emotiva.but im a blue collar guy w/ morgage, car payment, bills, bills, bills like everyone else.I cant afford to spend tons of money on "high-end gear" nor can i afford to constantly switch out used amps every other month.Ive heard several name brand amps ,and quite frankly, myself &everyone else who walks in the door here.....is blown away w/ my system.I think emo makes a great product at an affordable price.Try it,return if you dont like it.I upgraded everything from speaker cables to ics and power cables and all together,i love my emo w/ my rtis and know that itll last for yrs of enjoyment. As long as you the listener is happy, the name brand doesnt matterfronts=rti12s(cherry)

There is one thing that is always true in any of these solid state amp vs solid state amp debates, and I don't know why it hasn't been brought up here yet.

What part of this sentence did you NOT understand John?
SS amps are expensive as it is with only a few choices that are affordable outside of buying used. Throwing in some eosoteric, expensive tubes is even more expensive. Especially for a HT system.
