Are you an Athlete?

I would like to talk to athletes about audio and music.

Do you participate in any sports activities? Do you consider yourself a serious or devoted amateur or professional?

If the answer is yes to both questions, could you get back to me? … and tell me what sport(s) and at what level?

Thanks,
Al

Are you looking for sports like baseball, football, skiing, tennis, squash or are sports like mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding, rollerblading considered too?

Also, not to be a nudge but, are outdoors type stuff like hiking, fishing and hunting what you would consider sports?

Lastly, are motorsports like car racing, boat racing, plane racing, lawn mower racing considered sports for this as well?

Sorry if I'm being annoying but sports is such a broad term that encompasses so much. I could assume that the stuff I'm interested isn't what your looking for but I find it's better to ask instead of just dismissing off the bat.

From my point-of-view, any sport is reelvant. Aerobics to cliff diving. Mower racing to speed sking the glaciers. Arm wrestling to Australian-rules football. Ironman to ping pong. I'm interested.

Devoted amateur in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I know enough to know that I'm horrible in both forms, and have a LONG way to go (years...) before I'm even passable...That being said, they have combined to be a life saver, as they've helped me to stay quit smoking.

I'll be playing soccer again soon once I've gotten onto a 35+ team in the area. Probably starting back in the fall league so I'm adequately back in shape from MT and BJJ.

    Does "mathlete" count?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I played in a men's baseball (not softball) league, a coed volleyball league and went to the gym 6 days per week until a few years ago when I decided to be fat and lazy instead. Does that count?

mountain biking, weight lifting, running, rugby, soccer.

normally for most stuff I try to lift and bike/run 3 days a week. Rugby and soccer are normally just pick up games that I play with the sports teams around the area. There is a college rugby team that often meets in the summer once a week just for fun and I'll join in when I can on those days.

    Basketball, Track, Soccer.
Went to states for track for the 400 meter race, 200 meter sprint and the 100 meter sprint.
I won states in 2 years in a row and made all state for defense.
As for basketball, well I really didn't much care about that sport but I guess we did well.
Other than that, I taught soccer to little kids for a few years....
As for keeping it up, well not much time anymore.
I do work out when I can though.

I used to play ice hockey, now it's just roller hockey for me. Definitely on the amateur level, even though I've been playing hockey for 20 years now.

What happened to the post I submitted this morning? Oh well here it is again.

Al are you asking if one is a current athlete or does the past years of being an athlete count in what you are trying to compile?

    Are you an Athlete?

Only in my own mind. :D

My sports now consist of golf (at least I always walk and carry my bag when possible), hiking and backpacking.

    definitely amateur....

Enjoy running, hiking, cycling...now that it's hot, I'll spend more time swimming.

Related to audio, I'm having a hard time finding some headphones that work for long runs. Otherwise, I'm not necessarily interested in listening to tunes during the other activities...

    Joe,

The mods are doing a mine sweep! Fair enough! I'll be nicer.

I am too old to be considered an athlete but I used to play Football in High School and I boxed in college if that is of any use.

These days...I'm not doing anything....too busy over here. But when home I bicycle and lift weights just to stay in shape.
