Receiver & Matching Amp or Two Amps & Pre-Amp?

I have an NAD 7400 and am considering getting a 2400 amp and running both bridged to run a pair of rtia9s. What's the benefit of running two amps with a pre-amp as opposed to running a receiver and matching amp? I am somewhat of a noob in regards to this. Thanks in advance.
