Just got back from a concert

Saw Skillet, Fuel with the original lead singer, Alice In Chains, Three Days Grace and Stone Temple Pilots as well as a couple local bands. It was like I was a teenager all over again! It was a great show and the weather held off long enough too. Sucks that it was on a Sunday but still so totally worth it!
I left my house at about 10:30 Sunday morning and did not get back until 1:15 Monday morning. That was about 15 hours of good music, good beer and good company. The only sad part is that about 30% of the concert goers weren't even born when Alice In Chains first album dropped in 1989. Most weren't even out of diapers when Stone Temple Pilots' first album dropped. Make you wonder if they can really appreciate the impact that these bands have had.
All in all, it was a spectacular time! Life...is grand!
BTW, also found out that Soundgarden is playing Lalapalooza in Chicago August 6-8th. I think I might be making a trip to Chicago.

Funny, I just got back from one too.
Steve Miller
38 Special
Ratt
Starship
Edgar Winter
I didn't really like the venue, it was outdoors and windy, I had a hard time seeing the stage, the beer was too expensive and it sucked anyway........
I know I'm whining, but all in all I didn't have as good a time as Jstas. At least I'm on vacation and don't have to go to work tomorrow. My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
Sorry to whine on your thread last night, I'm glad you had a good time.
It was kinda cool when grunge hit, and bands like AinC and Soundgarten came out. I was still living in Seattle then, and my work clothes became fashionable. My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
I just got back from NYC. Two nights of Pearl Jam at sold out Madison Square Garden. Friday night show was absolutely over_the_top.
Thursday night The Black Keys opened. Friday night was Band of Horses.BTW, also found out that Soundgarden is playing Lalapalooza in Chicago August 6-8th. I think I might be making a trip to Chicago.
Yes they are and I may well be there. They are rehearsing at PJ's facility in Seattle and a couple people I know will be working for them.-Kevin

I can't say I'm the biggest STP fan, but I have seen 'em at a couple of festivals. They (and Scott in particular) certainly know how to entertain the crowd.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

His brain is probably baked from 2 decades of drug abuse. I'd rather he sound/be mentally deficient in interviews as long as he stays sober. It would be a huge loss to the music world for his talent to go away and take the rest of STP with it again. Even if you don't like STP, I think it would be difficult to argue that they aren't a talented bunch of guys. Even if you are just talking about the DeLeo brothers. But as zombie boy said, Scott can work a crowd like nobody's business. He's one of the best frontmen I've ever seen. He was always perfect for STP 'cause STP as a whole just oozes cool and he was a perfect eccentric foil to that. If you've ever seen them live you know what I'm talking about. They don't come off as cocky, just "cool cats". Their shows aren't over the top. Sure they have the light show and background video but they've never been gimmicky. They just come out and play and that's the best part about it because they do that so well.
BTW, Scott did drag a concert goer up on stage with him, gave him the bullhorn and the microphone and had him do the opening to "Dead and Bloated". That was pretty cool and made that guy's year.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
