PSW505 to Onkyo NR-807 with Sub Pre Out

Trying to understand how to best connect my PSW505 to my Onkyo TX NR-807 receiver.

I have two sub pre outs on my receiver. Do I connect one sub pre out from my receiver to the Line In left and and the other sub pre out to the Line In right on my PSW505 sub? From what I've read the receiver sends the same signal out of both and I'm assuming the Line In left and right pick out the frequencies on the sub.

I'm hoping this is the best way to hook up the sub. I purchased the RCi in-wall speakers for the front and the rear.

Thanks in advance, Miles

It probably comes down to not really understanding sub out and pre out well enough and perhaps trying to follow the instructions too closely. On page 3 of the manual, figure 8, it says that one would use the "Sub Out" feature to connect to the LFE input. On page 4, figure 9, it says that "Pre Out" jacks connect to the left and right line level inputs. My understanding is that I have pre out jacks on my receiver so I guess this is why I'm still confused. Thanks, Miles

The preouts would be used for an external amp. Follow xcapri79's advice.

Think of it this way....with the internal crossover in the 807..your sub-outs are your lows, and the other 7 pre-outs are your highs....

Thanks to everyone and to xcapri79s original response which I'll go with. Can I use speaker wire to make the rca jack connection (assuming I go to Radio Shack)?

If you bought a 807 then you should have a few RCAs laying around somewhere....get ONE and hook it up.....if it is stereo, split it......LOL

    Hello Miles,
Welcome to Club Polk. The best connection method is to use a shielded coaxial cable to go from either one of the two sub-out connections, on the receiver, to the single LFE input on the sub-woofer. This connection needs to be a coaxial type cable rather than speaker wire. I'm afraid speaker wire could result in humming from lack of sufficient grounding. If you've already run speaker wire, through walls, then instead of a line level connection connect the positive/negative speaker wire to either the right or left main speaker connection, on the receiver. Then, at the sub-woofer end, connect the positive/negative speaker wire to either the right or left speaker level input on the sub-woofer. You would also want to set the receiver's set-up instructions to sub-woofer "off" with this connection.
If you are using the coaxial cable connection then the receiver would be set with the sub-out function on.
    I hope this helpful information.
    Cheers, Ken

I have the axact same combo. I did what is suggested above. One of the subwoofer outs to the LFE in on the sub. Works great.
