LSI 25's versus 15's
I just got my new 15's but found a great deal on some one year old 25's.They were driven by a B&K amp so it sounds good so far. What should I expect in sound differences with the powered sub?How clean is that amp on the 25? Anybody with personal knowledge on this feel free to chime in on this.I am going to hear them tomorrow and want to have an idea of what to expect.BTW,$1000 for the pair.I think I could resale and not hurt myself if it comes to that.If kept,I would front the 25's and use the 15's for surround(overkill) or keep the 9's in the back and move the 15's to a secondary room.Let me know what you think. Eddie

I like "LSi15." It is easier to adjust.

the 25's were the first polks i had and were a ***CH to dial in. but once done i sure am not complaining like i once did.
running them with a emotiva xpa amp. -
the 25's being a b*tch to dial in is a recurring theme (a reason i was never tepted to get the 25's)
would rather have one sub to calibrate than 3. I certainly would not trust the 25 subs to handle all theater sub frequencies (honestly dont even know if it is possible)
anywhoo, the 15's as surround being overkill. I am going with yes on that, as I think the 9's I use as surrounds now are overkill. If I happen upon a set of 7's or fx's for cheap, thats doing surroind duty and i'll keep the 9's for occasional 2 channel duty.
you can certainly use 15's for surrounds, but so much of the speakers ability will be unused.Living Room 2 Channel -

I have the LSi25s and a PSW1000. What I found was that while it was great having the 10s in the towers, they didn't reach down with nearly as much depth and fullness as the PSW1000. However, once I did add the 1000 (just two days later), it was the perfect compliment to the system. The 25s were taking the higher bass while the 1000 took the lowest, and the blend was phenomenal. It takes some time to dial in, but once you get it right, it's awesome.
I'm planning on the xover mod here soon to further improve my sound- Computer Rig -
