I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST POLKS! $205 Polk Audio RTA 15TL with Subwoofer

Thanks!! Just noticed you also had the specs in your first post.
Well, that's from the eBay post and if I've learned anything, it's always to go and try and find the source.
Heck the Polksda.com website still lists the 11T as 94db sensitivity, umm those would have to be with Fostex drivers to be that, but folks still use that data when selling. http://www.polksda.com/rta11t.shtml -
Just got a call from the seller! Leaving soon to go get them! Whew!!!! Just have to run to the bank and mangle my savings account for a pittance of $205!! (ok, not pittance when counted in Taco Bell Bean Burritos (I measure everything in bean burritos) but for grand Polk speakers, I think it's pittance)
Btw, sounds like they come with the SL3000. The seller has the receipt from Good Guys and will check the date when I pick them up, hopefully a more recent production.
My checking account is tapped out and as a state worker, I have to budget pretty well so this is my "little gift" to myself for the next two months...
Question:
Sounds like they come with the SL3000. The seller has the receipt from Good Guys and will check the date when I pick them up.
Should I upgrade to the RDO198?? Is it that much of a difference from the SL3000? I will most likely later, but is it as much a difference, say upgrading from an SL2000?
Also, I just want the STOCK sound. Is changing the capacitors necessary if it is a more recent model?
Also,I know folks say "while you are in there changing the caps you might as well upgrade the XXXX to air somethings and etc, etc" but from what I can tell it only takes 5 minutes to get to the XO? If so, I could always tackle those later if I have more $$ and more time.
(you know its funny I was about to write WHEN I have more money not IF I have more money. My Russian friend once remarked to me that this is one of the main differences between Americans and Eastern Europeans. We always believe we'll make more in the future. Not so sure of that now. Though, I am not pessimistic. I'm one of those who, for the most part, don't mind paying taxes... Hell, I could be Greek, what a mess they are in....) -

Awesome find! Thanks for sharing that!!!!!!! -
I'm betting another member beat me to this, but I barely missed out on 4 RTA15's for $200...yes you read that right...4!!! Best deal I've seen in a long time!
Yah, I told the guy I'd offer 10% above any offer since my email. Guy ended up selling for $300 and blowing me off. I was pretty annoyed with the seller, but figured I'd let him figure out on his own that he left $200 on the table. -
That's an awesome find for $205!!!
I've never heard any of the RTA series...I'd love to get my ears on them. IMO, the RTA11TL and RTA15TL are the best looking of all the vintage Polk's.The nirvana inducer-

Thanks All!
They sound very nice with the ML powering them. I like the soundstage height alot.
Though, my KEFs do have deeper bass than the 15TLs.
I only have space for one set of speakers. And the WAF on these is pretty low. Scott my grab them from me, since he was the one who found them for me in the first place! lol -
Put the shoes away bro

But where could I store them? I mean these Beasts are huge! I knew these were big, maybe it's the black colour, but man are they big! -

I'm gonna do the best sales job I can with my wife. She's pretty got a pretty high WAF threshold, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She told me the SDA 2's are the biggest she'd let in the door, but these are just about the same size.
I'm surprised to hear the bass on the KEF's is appreciably deeper. I mean the 15TL's go down to about 30hz, I think! Either way I'm sure they go deeper than the SDA 2's, but I'm thinking maybe now I need to hear me some big KEF's. -
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Sigh. I can't keep these, too big and no storage space (plus they should be enjoyed, not stored...).
I probably should not have bought them in the first place. I really didn't need them but for these beasts, in their condition, and that price...how could I have stopped myself?
I'll post them in the Flea Market and possibly later on local CL, but thought I'd give Club members first dibs. Plus, I'd like them to go to a good home.
Would only sell them for the price I paid plus gas. -
Echosphere,
Were are you located at? Would you consider shipping them? -

Echosphere,

I'm in Olympia, WA near Seattle. I don't think I could ship them. So scared they would get damaged and the shipping costs would be crazy I think. At least $150-200. Too much. -
Are you kidding? really, they look perfect with the set-up in the pics

You should see the rest of the room.... it ain't much bigger and I already have my KEF 104/2. I know some Polks don't care for KEF's but they are my babies...
Thanks, they do look good there, in the photos ... but as someone said above, I don't even have much room for putting my shoes!
Also, not sure if I am able to talk about such sales at my level or in this place? Maybe it should be moved to the FM? Or I shouldn't be doing this at all?
Cheers,
Scott -

According to the Polk's rule of the FS forum you have enough posts (100 min) to post in the FS section and once you are ready to sell that is where you must advertise your speakers. Make sure you read the rules for yhe said FS forum, abide by the rule, be fair in your asking price (people know how much you paid for them) and I am convince they will go very quicly. Now, that I know of there is nothing in the rule that mentions you can not sell to people below 100 posts however, that eliminates the epole that don't really care about CP and are here simply to snag a good deal away from Polkies.
Good luck with wathever you decide to do!
Cheers!

Thanks TK! Appreciate it!
