Probably Tanqueray, I was introduced to that brand in grad school by my best friend's British girlfriend...and Brits know their Gin. Although the others are also good!

For me gin is ONLY a summer drink best had with a good Tonic and twist of lime?

I'm all for Seagram's. Although my opinion may not matter as I only use
    gin in LI Iced Tea.

If I want a good martini out I'll usually go with Sapphire as a default, but if I'm at a bar where I know they'll do it justice, a Hendricks martini can be awesome. Put a little slice of cucumber in there, nothing better.

If I'm at home and I just want to savor some martini flavor without the price tag... Gordon's. I know it sounds ridiculous, but Gordon's makes a good martini if you're willing to go a little heavier on the Noilly Prat.

I love gin and while I'm certainly no connoisseur , I prefer Tanqueray to Bombay Sapphire.
Though I do like Sapphire . I would be interested in sampling some other brands such as Plymouth ,Hendricks and Magellan .
Tonic and lime. Also martinis.Mmmmmmm martinis.

See now I find Tanqueray to perfumy! We used to call it ghetto gin!

Actually Gordon's gin makes a nice martini too.

Bombay Sapphire is my favorite, Tanqueray is second. Most of the time my budget calls for Seagrams Distillers Reserve or Gordons.

Right on! Always good to find another believer in the Gordon's martini. Do you drink 'em dry like you do with the Sapphire martini or let a little more vermouth find its way in with the Gordon's?

When I was a gin drinker, it was Tanq or Saphire and tonic with two limes. But, now I've moved on to good bourbon on the rocks with a splash of water.

Actually I don't drink anymore but when I did, it was pour some vermouth in the martini glass, coat the inside then pour it out, then add the shaken Gordon's gin with olives.

I used to drink 9oz Absolute Peppar maritinis when I was a drinker. That warm feeling from the peppers would course through your blood.

normally I'll drink Hendricks, Q or Deaths Door. I like to have it often just straight or with some ice.

Martinis I normally prefer to have a vodka but gin is always fun if the bartender knows how to make a good martini. If they don't well there's no recovery.

I definately agree with this...unfortunately or fortunately for me, depending on how you want to look at it, its typically 70 degrees or above and sunny 12 months a year in SoCal. Thus, I've been having a gin-n-tonic every night with my meal pretty much since last fall. I haven't had a beer in over 3 months. I doubt I'll be able to break this habit until I move somewhere cold.

I've used Gordons, Seagrams, Tanqeray, and now I'm finishing off a bottle of Beefeaters. I just picked up a bottle of Bombay (not Sapphire, because only the regular Bombay label was on sale at CVS) for the next phase. I can swing $20 for a 1.75 L bottle but $35 or more is too rich for my blood at this point in my life.

Hence, I wanted to see if there was a forum favorite. It looks like there's quite a few good brands that people enjoy!

Ah...the Martini. I remember my dad usually drinking those whenever we had guests or went to others' houses for a get-together when I was a kid. He used to use either Gordons or Gilbeys. To be honest, I don't think I've ever tried one. What do I need for a good Martini aside from the gin?
