Hello,
I have the opportunity of getting another Rotel RB-1080 at a steal.
Although I already own a 1080.
Is it possible to do a mono block amplification with the 1080?
thanks,

I think the correct term will be bi-amplification of the rotel 1080

The correct term is bridged as in being able to use each amp as a mono block. You can look on the back of your amp or in your owner's manual to see if it can be done. Keep in mind that bridged amps run very hot, are usually rated not to drive less than an 8 ohm load and tend to produce more signal noise.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ok I'll read the manual of the 1080?

I checked the rotel website. Tough luck, the 1080 is not bridgeable, only 1070 is.
The guy is selling the 1080 at such a good price, I'll probably get it as a spare. -
Hang on, do your speakers have dual binding posts? If so, you could bi-amp. That is run one amp to the low circuit L & R and run the other to the high circuit L & R. Be sure to remove the jumpers first.Political Correctness'.........defined

Yes, I have an LSI9.
where do I get an input signal to the second amp? -
You will need to use a "Y" splitter coming out of your pre amp unless your pre amp has two sets of outputs. You run the Right channel signal to both amps and the same for the Left channel. From the low amp, you run your Left and Right speaker cables to the respective low posts on the speakers. From the high amp, you run your Left and Right speaker cables to the respective high posts. Since both amps are identical, you don't have to worry about gain issues.Political Correctness'.........defined

Will there be a sonic improvement?

That's always the question, isn't it!?! If you try it, let us know what you think.Political Correctness'.........defined
