Putting Tower Speakers Outside for a Day?

Alright, I'm sure this problem has been asked many times but I have a buddy who is getting married outside this summer and wants to skip a DJ to save money because of the size of attendance.
He called me yesterday asking if I thought it would be ok to rig up something like a pair of Monitor 70's outside to a mid level receiver (100wpc). I didn't see much of a problem with it as long as he wasn't trying to have some overkill for the neighborhood or something.
Does anyone see any potential problems with this? Will the sound be ok in an outdoor area?
The main goal for him would be to buy something that would work well for the wedding but also allow him to keep them afterwards and use them in his home when the wedding is over.
Any thoughts would be great!

Firstly I'm not sure I would put those 'outside'. You really need more of a DJ speaker with a PA amp for that kind of thing IMO. And secondly, if you do...100 watts/channel is not going to cut it you'll clip the amp before you get all the volume you need and I'm not even sure what kind of SPLs the M-70s are capable of...what their limit is!
In fact at a big gathering I would imagine you might need a small wall of M-70s! With hundreds and hundreds of watts of amplification.
Anyone else?

Well I guess I should state he's not looking to have a concert out there but more of background music during the reception and things like that. With that said, if the Atriums can get pretty loud outside off a regular receiver couldn't the monitor 70s get even louder?

Outdoors, OK, but it is semi-enclosed at all, or just wide open spaces? Will he be jammin' the Scorps, or just playing some string quartet music for background? I'd say it kinda depends on some of that type of information.
edit-Looks like you supplied some info while I was typing."Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."
