THIS IS NO BS>, Spokeo.com is a new online phone book w/personal information: pictures you've posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, etc. Remove your listing by first searching for yourself on their site to find the URL of your page and copy it, then... going to the Privacy button on the bottom of THEIR page to remove yourself, paste the link there.THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

They're collecting public information. If you don't want them to do so, how about don't make that information public in the first place?

EDIT : Snopes has an article about them, and notes :
NOTE: By running some trials with Spokeo, we've found that:

* The information returned to paying customers through Spokeo searches is not very detailed and is often inaccurate.

* Our repeated trials with requesting the blocking of a particular record through Spokeo's privacy page have found the procedure to be highly questionable: no attempt is made to verify that the person requesting the blocking of a record is the person identified by that record, our efforts have never resulted in a successfully blocked record, and Spokeo's customer service group has not responded to any inquiries. All of this has led some to speculate that one of Spokeo's core businesses is actually the collecting of e-mail addresses.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Some of the information is surprising, I'm just glad they had my home value of $1,000,000+ correct. :D

If I had to put together the list of the top 50 offenders of consumer privacy, Spokeo wouldn't even make the list. They just scrape together what's available from other sources.

Interesting, it's the first site I've ever found to return any information at all using my name. I really don't put any information on the web, especially pictures and details of my family. They have my town and street name correct, but EVERYTHING else is dead wrong. Of course the Michigan SOS dept is well known for selling driver's licence information, so there are probably thousands who have my address, no big deal.

Some of it just didn't make sense, for instance:

Home value: $2M+ (I wish)
Neighborhood: Below average

Odd that a below average neighborhood would have $2M+ homes in it. Other than those, it has my age, length of residency, zodiac sign, marital status, education, etc. all wrong. I'm not real concerned.

Like the snopes article says, asking them to pull it down will probably just make them think they have the correct info, and give them your email address as well. Don't bother.

Did for both my wife and me. Although most of the info was inaccurate it was there and did have some picture from facebook. I googled my name and only my son's info shows up however my mom, dad, sister, & brothers showed up. Odd?

EDIT; when I put my name and city it comes up with threads from this forum.

I just searched myself, and came up with what would have been correct info several years ago.

It puts my fiancee as living with her stepmother, who never speaks to her, except to threaten her life....

Yay for checking the accuracy of the information you make available!
