moment of silence, please....
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

    Very sad indeed.

I use my Hafler pre on a DAILY basis, and tonight will be no exception. Time for me to quit thinking about it, and go ahead a find a Quadradaptor and buy it.

David was one of the guys that invented multi-channel music listening. You guys think DVD-a and SACD etc etc is cool, listen to a good 4 channel QUAD setup sometime.

Matter of fact, I believe a certain old-coot around here uses a Quadradaptor for his 'HT' rig. Dolby Digital? Pffffft.

    Glasses will be raised tonight.

    Cheers to Mr. Hafler,
    Russ

Definitely a major loss for the audio industry, especially on the heels of losing another pioneer, Henry Kloss, not all that long ago. Believe it or not, I still use a Dynaco 400 power amp for PA with my band. How many of you remember Dynaco? Hafler's company before Hafler. Also, I had the pleasure of meeting the man once at a Philadelphia AES chapter meeting. Quite a guy! His products will live on...

Sad indeed. I'll have to give the Dynaco rig a good listen before I disconnect it for the move.

another loss for the audio industry,

I used to own a Marantz 4400, now that was a great Quad Receiver.... wish I still had it. Went garage sale many moons ago.

    Thanks for the post, polka...

I built an FM-5 tuner back in college. One of the simplest kits I ever came across and a great little tuner. Loved that Dynalock circuitry. From those days to my more recent Hafler buys, I've always enjoyed his work.

    Thanks David...
    More later,

That is sad news. David Hafler's components have provided tens of thousands of audio enthusiasts millions of hours of great music listening. The Dynaco PAS-3X pre-amplifier, Stereo 70 power amp and FM-3 tuner represent some of the best examples of classic vacuum tube equipment ever made. I've used a stock Stereo 70 on my work bench for many years with not a moment's problem. Great gear!
