    Thanks for the responses.

I live near Indy, and I'm concerned about the dropping out problem. I'm looking at the Kenwood KDC-HD545U HU - I guess I'll have to check with Crutchfield on their return policy.

DSkip - which Kenwood model did you try?

My Zune HD has a built in HD radio tuner, and the quality is excellent. I haven't experienced the drop out, but then again I live in a very big city. The SQ of HD radio makes it a must to at least try out.

I was using a kenwood with built-in HD. That might've been the issue, or it might've been that I do most of my driving on the outskirts of town. Either way, it was the main reason I bought the unit and it didn't perform as I wanted it to, so it found its way back to the store :)

HD requires a very strong signal, so if youre on the outskirts of town, youre probably not going to get a whole lot...but if you live in town, it is a noticeable difference, but I'd rather have satellite radio anyway.
