Want to use an external amp for more power, but the receiver does not have any preamp out connections. will want to use the speakers in concert with 5.1 set up. Any suggestions.

In the end what are you're trying do?

Is it 2 channel music? Or large front speakers for HT? If 2 channel you may like to get a pre amp first. There's no great way to add an amp now to to an AVR if there's no pre amp outputs, but in the end you want 2 channel music then another road is best.

I just posted this in your other thread...

There really isn't any way around it. They make a converter that will turn speaker level outputs into line level outputs...but at a GREAT expense of SQ. It shouldn't even really be considered as a viable option IMO. It significantly changes the impedance and output voltage...and really isn't a good solution.

Looks like it's time to upgrade the AVR.
