Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good 7.1 receiver with pre-outs? Looking for something in the $400-$700 range.

Thanks,
Roei.

    you can also look at the yamaha RX-V665.. its probably the cheapest main brand 7.1 AVR that has pre-outs..infact its 7.2 if you want to add a 2nd sub, however it can be a little bright sometimes on music to my ears.
    Still great for HT though.
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    Hey roei welcome to CP!

    If you do a search you will find multiple threads that are either dedicated to or talk a lost about this very question. It would also help if we knew what the rest of your system consists of, as different receivers sometimes sound better with different speakers and other equipment. Having said that, a few common suggestions are the HK avr354 (you can see from my signature that I am an HK user), the Onkyo tx-sr707, and the Marantz Sr5003. The onkyo and marantz can be bought refurb from accessories4less for your price range, and the hk can often be bought through hks ebay store refurb for a really nice price. Good luck!

    Peace,
    Paul

    Are you near a Fry's store? They have the Onkyo HT-RC180 for $500 right now during their 25th anniversary sale. It's retail prices is like $600 usually. It's in store only though, not available online.

    Let me plug Denon. This is $525 http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=DENAVR2310CI

    If you call them and you are a AVSFORUM member they ususally discount even more. I think free shipping too. The customer satisfaction used to be 1 week, not sure now.

    The 2310 does not have preouts. You need to step up to the 3310 for preouts

    Guys, thank you very much for the quick response.
    Sorry for not being detailed.
    I have the Pioneer VSX 1019 and unfortunately it does not have pre outs (very disappointing) I failed to check this basic issue prior to buying.
    I have LSi 15s, LSiC, and Lc80fx all are 4 ohms; the Pioneer is 8/6 ohms. I wanted to hook the speakers to Emotiva amps (XPA-2 for the LSI 15s, and UPA-5 for the LSiC and the 4 Lc80fx) unfortunately as mentioned no pre-outs, and thats the reason i'm looking for a new receiver.

    I have a 3D Samsung 63" Plasma TV on order which I believe uses HDMI 1.4 so I’m thinking it’ll have to be a fairly new receiver. Although it’s a different subject all together, I believe the 1.3 will also support the 3D.

    Thanks again guys and I’m researching some of your suggestions right now.

    Roei.

    Your right, I saw the external ins and thought they were outs.

    I have the 2808 but I guess now there is nothing in between the 23XX and 33XX that has pre outs.

    Bummer.

    As far as I know none of these will support 3d, that will most likely take you out of your price range. But many of the new 3d disc players have dual hdmi so you can run one to your tv and one to your receiver which would mean that you would not need hdmi 1.4

    Yeah, I think you might be hard pressed to find a receiver that does HDMI 1.4 and has preouts in your price range since they are just starting to come out and will be top-dollar.

    My guess would be that the Onkyo 708 will have 1.4 and pre-outs, but that's just a guess and there is no set release date yet. I'm just going by previous model's features since the 700 series always has preouts and the 608 (this years new model) supports HDMI 1.4.
