Deep breath everyone...

The past 8 months has been INSANE...

1) Bought a house and still remodeling it
2) Was promoted to GM at my job
3) Got a dog

Damn.

My house is so close - its all sanding and prep now - The hallway is done except for some misc sanding and trim prep...

The spare bedroom is done except for the closet, misc sanding and trim prep

The master needs sanding and the closet needs to be sanded - along with trim prep

So close, but so far! haha

Hopefully I will be painting in a few weeks - from there it gets real easy!

Ah, painting. Fun. Took me 3 weeks to get it all done right.

Painting is easy, prep work is hard. The majority of your work will be in the prep work. Do good there and you will have no issues painting the color coats.

On a side note, I have realized that my electrical service is not big enough for my planned electronics. I must upgrade my feed.

My grandfather always said... "The day you stop working on your house is the day you die." He died in '86 WORKING on his house... I guess HE was done.:p

We started an addition when my wife was pregnant with our first daughter with the hopes that it would be 'done' by the time the baby came. STILL working on it and our daughter turned 7 last week!

Good luck with the finishing touches (the promo and the dog too!)- and as bobman said... it's NEVER done!

It's so true! we bought a new house with many upgrades. After living in it for a year then we started saying, wish this was here, that was there. We should add this.

Congrats Trey on all your recent accomplishements

I remember when my dad got remarried, and moved into my stepmom's house. They built a new porch shortly afterwards, and she said "i can't wait until this is done!" I laughed at her and told her "are you kidding? This will never stop."

16 years later, I remind her all the time of this conversation as the work continues :)

Great stuff Trey! When I was your age, I bought a raised Cape Cod in Bridgeport, PA. No painting there, just wallpapering!!!:eek::eek:

Bob's right, it never ends! By the time you get to where you think you are done, you will want to change something you did a year before.

Do it now while you're young, I can tell you doing house upgrades or repairs now at 54 it's not fun anymore. I now see it as a real PITA.

I HATED doing wallpaper. Seems like my wife would come home with a new pattern every couple months. I'm very happy the trend went to paint!

You said it Gordon, wallpaper is a real pain in the keister! We were using that vinyl paper with set patterns and if you were off by even 1/8th" at the start by the time you got around the room it was off by a foot or two not to mention brushing the air bubbles out of vinyl. Plus wall paper is down right ugly at least these days.

UGH, the thought of it makes me cringe.

Thank God my wife hates wallpaper. As soon as we moved into our house last November, she made me take it all down. Taking it off was a pain in the ****. I can't imagine how tough it is to put it on.

We are now in the early stages or remodeling the kitchen. At first it was just change the floors, removing the wall paper, painting and installing new counters. But, somehow she decided that she wants new cabinets and appliances.

At the same time, I came home the other day and there are a pile of boxes that were delivered. The wife ordered all new blinds for our bathrooms and master bedroom

I swear she must have a money tree planted somewhere that I don't know about! :(:(:(

This is the same woman that complains about the cost every time I get a shipment of vinyl from George.

Good luck with finishing everything...or like other guys said...finding new things to do to it once you finish for now:p When my fiance and I bought our house we decided to add a new small front porch...ended up being 10'x16'. Then she decided we need a sunroom off the kitchen:eek: Now a deck off the sunroom:rolleyes: But ofc who's the one that does the actual building after she comes up with the ideas lol...but at least once the sunroom and deck are finished I will get to start my dream garage someday:D the key word being someday lol. even thought I haven't been on polk long I have seen your threads with the progress, can't wait to see it all done...looks great so far from what I have seen;)
