Thats the 350- it has an 8" PR, a 5.25" midbass

    The 450 has a 10" and a 6.5"

Im excited to hear them - maybe will run them as mains for a bit, proably will remind me a bit of my BP10B

I cannot hear a difference between HDMI audio and optical. Currently I use optical for the audio and HDMI for video for HT use.
If you're using lossless audio tracks via HDMI, you should be able to tell the two apart.

My whole house is based on HDMI...

So I have no real choice. I will be able to watch DVDs in any room, computers in any room -- cable, whatever...

Inwalls -- so yeah, HDMI is beyond a must. Heck its one of the reasons for even getting a processor haha

I think the sound will be top notch, but the video will lag behind. All that nice gear and no PJ and screen for the bigger picture. You should rethink your video portion of these nice plans. Budget in the PJ, screen and BD players you'll be happy you did in the end.

Why not get something like an Epson 8500UB and a cheap screen? I'm running here an Epson 1080UB with a cheap Dalite screen just to hold me over until I decide to get a JVC or something else...

A screen and projector will definitely be a thought - but most likely in the future... budget wont allow for sure

Yeah, for a block or two in each direction. Are you sure the plumbing in your neighborhood can handle it? Seriously, did you have to do a lot of soundproofing or just live a good distance from the other folks in your area?

From the materials all the consumer electronics companies put out, HDMI should be same quality or better than SPDIF (optical or coax), unless it's a really long run, and then digital coax probably has the nod. I was thinking of doing in-wall HDMI but figured I'd have to do repeaters. Did you use those or were you able to keep the runs short enough to not need them?

Im using HDMI over cat5 - mostly for future expansion - but I can go extreme distances without any signal loss..

I would never dare run hdmi through my walls because the connecting heads break or just come loose after some time

I went through 6 hdmi cables from various brands and they have all broke. One was a 35ft !! most of my falures have been from heat behind the audio rack

Do you have them laying on a large tube amp or class A amp? I've never had one go bad, and they're all cheapos.

Are those the ones that use a pair of CAT5+ for each HDMI connection? I've used those to go from the HT to a home gym room. I eventually stopped using it cause I needed one of the ports for actual ethernet. Guess I should have run more wires. Is that what you're using or something newer / different?

Same here and I have some fairly long runs in my HT. I'm using Bluejeans Cables

Monoprice has a pair of wallplates that are HDMI over Cat5 that I am using - they are only 30 dollars and require two CAT5 runs per pair....

I lost out on the CLR3000 -- so I am rethinking the center channel...

Im thinking about a pair of the Studiomonitor 450 like I am using for the surrounds -- a pair turned on their side, tweeters coupled together - cabinets slightly slanted away from each other so its not one continuous baffle...

This will allow me not to have to worry about amp failure in the future and I should still get pretty decent bass....

I can just wire them in parallel - any amp Ill get will be able to handle a 4 ohm load

What about comb filtering and poor vertical dispersion?

Well the Studiomonitor series from DT was designed to be horizontal or vertical..

As far as cancelations and weird stuff like that goes -- I was hoping putting the speakers in a slight V orientation would help atleast lessen that problem - atleast get them all the same dispersion pattern...

DT centers are 2 way designs --- so it wouldnt be toooooo different.

Any thoughts are appreciated -- Ive always been kind of against centers since they are kind of a single use.... so using bookshelves allows me to do more with them if needed...

I could also put a speaker below the TV vertically and put one above the tv upside down vertically and do it that way...

    thoughts?

    I received the SM450 tonight...

Interesting speaker - I would say they are just like my old BP10B as far as sound traits...

I think they will make excellent centers and surrounds personally... highs are bright and crisp - for music a little to unfocused but for vocals and stuff it should come through loud and clear....

    Neat little monitor...

Well since I could not actually find pictures of the SM450 - I figured I would do the right thing and provide the world with actual photos of the SM450...
