Wow! This is the first time I've heard this CD on the new gear I got and have to say I was impressed with the sound quality of the CD. I have the remastered 24 bit "Made in England" version and the sound quality is very very good. The high end is just about perfect, not shrill (basically) at all. The lows end is phenominal with great low end extension. What got me the most were the dynamics though. As I said phenominal. If you love this album (it's 2nd only to Misplaced Childhood for me, but not by much) you must listen to it as the booklet suggests "Loud and with the lights off". Just sit there and listen to the entire CD al the way through without interruption and distractions. You will not be disappionted with the results.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I have not heard that name in years. Do you like Savatage? edge of thorns-gutter ballet?

I had not heard of them until you brought the name up. I just listened to 2 of the tracks from the album you mentioned. Hmmm, a little too "metal" for my taste. They don't have the finesse that bands like YES, Genesis, and Marillion have. They don't have the ability to capture a mood like the bands above have (at least from what I heard). I am realtively picky though when it comes to music.

Two of the guys in Savatage is who help start the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
