So ive finally decided its time to stop downloading mp3's off amazon and buy CD's. im looking for the cheapest CDP i can get, i don't need 42847284923748 disc loading or anything crazy like that just a decent CDP with a reasonably good DAC because it will eventually be intergrated into an all analog 2ch system.

my limit is 100 dollars.

Price is a 'limitation' here. I'd up the budget just a 'little' and go with that Sony CE595...that's about the best you'll do at that price and you also have SACD playback. You could also buy an Onkyo refurb CD changer at accessories4less.com for about 99

by the Sony SCD-CE595 refurb off of amazon or ebay and then purchase a squaretrade warranty. Your total will be about 100, it sounds REALLY good for the coin, and squaretrade will cover you in case anything goes wrong.

    Peace,

This one fits your budget and is a great entry level player.

Maybe even be on the look out for older DVD players from Denon, Sony, NAD or Rotel because sometimes you can snag one of them for around $100 and get a player that was originally in the $700 - $1000 range.

Be patient and you will find a deal.

I have an old Sony that failed and is now a piece of junk.
I would certainly agree with that where multi-CD changers are concerned. I used to have an old Sony and an old NAD changer (5 CD's in both cases), and boy were the noises from those mechanisms disconcerting (even when new, BTW)! I was expecting them to fail all the time, even if they never did. They just kept clink clank clunkin' on and on, noises and all.

The best 5 CD changer I've ever owned from that point of view is a Yamaha, actually. Very smooth operation of the changer, and never a problem. It's wrapped up somewhere in the garage right now.
    Alea jacta est!
