Klipsch sw-450

This subwoofer is on sale in my local area and i was considering it then i read this statement (in red) on the klipsch website. Im pretty sure i've read almost the exact opposite that your not suppose to place it in a corner. Could someone clarify about this please? I can't find their forums but i knew people in here talk about klipsch all the time so i hope its ok.

The SW-450 fills any room with big, clear bass, thanks to its powerful 10-inch driver and Class D amplifier. But if you really want to experience what this hard-hitter can do, be sure to place it in the corner of your room. In general, placing a subwoofer along the middle of the wall, or out in the room will decrease its output.

Also they show a picture of it sitting on its side as though its also useable as a front fireing subwoofer. Does anyone know about this? or are they just showing you the woofer. Please any help would be appreciated thanks

Lastly is this a good sub? has anyone heard it personally.

    Hi,

Corner loading subs is not uncommon for some manufacturers...in general it is often suggested to increase the visceral LFE performance for movie soundtracks...but often at the expense of tighter/faster more controlled musical base. So this is no surprise from Klipsch. That sub is the successor to the SUB-10 and SUB-12 lines. I heard the SUB-12 a while back and, indeed, it can hit fairly LOW and play fairly loud--so OK (not great) with movies. But put on some music and the sub falls apart, it can not keep up with it!

So if you're interested in HT..it's probably OK. If you want music...not so much!

Save yourself some money and buy a PSW505 from newegg for about 250 that will match that Klipsch sub in HT and be a bit more 'musical' as well. The Polk sub is actually better built and braced. The Klipsch sub is just a large box with a down-firing woofer that can get quite boomy since the box is fairly devoid of damping material and of quite thin walled-construction. The Polk sub weighs almost 10 pounds more....!
