Are any forum members near this seller that can check them out and give an update to the board? -
I was almost thinking it would be worth a road trip. That's a hell of a roadtrip for a looksee. Does it look to anyone else like some dustcaps on the MW's might be missing? Definitely appears to have had a tweeter replaced.

The top and bottom drivers on the left side in the pic are donut drivers because they are not 2.3TL's, they are 2.3's.
I would imagine that the sl2000 in the middle blew and he replaced it with an RD0-194 (hopefully not a 198 if he thinks they're TL's).2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

Why oh why can these sellers be close to me:mad: -
I am interested in the 2.3s in SFO. I contacted the seller yesterday but, have not yet received a response. While I am a Polk SRS and 1C owner, I am not a technical guy. If you have any tecnical questions you would like me to ask or anything specific you would like me to look at PM me. If I decide not to buy the speakers I will post my findings to your questions.2ch system:
polkaudio SDA-SRS speakers
Two Sony TA-N77ES amps
Sony TA-E77ES preamp
Sony CDP-X707ES CD player
Sony ST-S730ES tuner

audiobilly,
I'm sure there's somebody in the Polk forum that lives in or near Dallas. I recommend finding out who would be willing to check them out for you, as well as possibly holding them for you if you decided to purchase them.

Thanks for the .02 toucanet,
Dallas is a two day run from Nashville. Bit of a haul. If things get that bad for me then I will have to consider such actions. I just hope something comes up withing a one day run from home. -
Since this thread is alive an active, if anyone is searching for a pair of SDA-SRS 2 in the Los Angeles area, PM me. The guy I bought my 2A's from has a pair that I wish I could have brought home...just no space. No affiliation, just passing on a good find.Chris

Ouch, not cool. You gots to respect the mitigating factors. It was a tough sell getting my wife to embrace my SDA 2's! Matt Polk really should have made all the SDA behemoths smaller, or at least prettier. They were the speaker that every teenage boy wanted but couldn't afford and every married man couldn't get his wife to let him buy.
I mean where's the challenge in making a terrific sounding giant speaker?!

Believe me, it was a tough choice. Just not practical enough for my needs at this time since my space is limited. No way I could have fit them in my car either. The 2A's took up the entire back seat as it was and fit exactly in the space I had designated for them in my room.Chris

Anybody need spares ? 185 bucks...prob go lower.....:)

Somebody painted the cabinets black, but the drivers/PR'S alone are worth the peanut asking price....actually the cabinets dont look half bad...be a great veneering candidate.
The Amazing Polk SDA 1A Speakers Awesome Huge Tower Speakers with 12 Drivers and 2 Large Passive Radiators Retailed for $1,399 25 Years Ago!
These speakers are famous for their power and their soundstage / imaging. These work beautifully and sound incredibly. They are complete except for the umbilical cord that ties them together in back I can supply a substitute (non original) cable .
Cosmetically, all of the drivers look flawless no dimpled dust caps or marks on any of the cones. Even the huge passive radiators look like new. The cabinet has only one little ding on a rear bottom corner, and some veneer rippling on the top of one cabinet. These speakers were re-painted black by the original owner. On the photos they look great, but there are areas where it shows that it was not the best paint job in my opinion hence the reason for the very substantial discount on the normal selling price. Otherwise they look great, with no major dings or scratches the edges and corners look great. The grills are in great shape - no holes, tears, etc. but could use a good cleaning. Please note that these speakers are HUGE and are very HEAVY!The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

Yeah, but she'd take the house and a pair of SRS aren't gonna fit in the van I'd be living out of! -

Someone on CL Houston has some SDA's for sale, not sure of the model though. They look like they may be one of the older versions.

Wow. $350 was an incredible price.
CWilliams, send me a PM with your email address if you please so we can talk about the SRS 2.
Thanks. -

Parsonavich wrote: »Sorry for offending yet another person in this forum. I'm not really a sales solicitor - it takes 100 posts to list something for sale, and I have no intention of hanging around that long for 1 pair of speakers. My stereo heyday was many years ago when I bought the first Sony A/V amp with an optical input in 1989 - my interests have shifted since.
This site was the first listing when I googled the speaker model, and it was exciting to see the size of the Polk following and the number of folks interested in vintage speakers. Just looking for a good home for my babies. I'll just stick with craigslist as it feels a bit chilly here.
Sorry for the intrusion.
Sorry, but it seems a few (really a lot) bad apples have made the rules get a bit tougher. It isn't personal...
Good luck with the sale, if you were close to me they would be gone!!
By the way John, how is this worse than one of us who do qualify to sell here posting links to speakers someone has for sale that isn't even a member??;) Happens all the time.
