I remember when my Harman Kardon CD291 tape deck died. It was such a great deck and I felt really bad when I tossed it. Good luck!

Who is your tech? I had my Nakamichi 480ZX rebuilt several years ago - after it had been in storage for years, a whole bunch of things needed to be fixed.

You'll be fine. I had a 22 year old deck refurbished by a Tech where I live in the U.S. about a year ago...ran about 70 dollars--belts and a number of other parts, cleaning and adustments. Sounds like 'new'. If he can find the parts...no problem!
