T15/CS10/TSi300 (or 400)

I just replaced a 12+ year old Pioneer receiver with a new 5.1 Channel receiver. The replaced system was part of a rack system with 4-way floor speakers (15", 5", 3", 1" model CS-R7100) and a below average center channel.

With the purchase, I bought some T15 Polk Audio speakers for the rear. I am currently reusing the old floor speakers and center channel in a 5.0 setup (The 15's are handling the bass just fine). I had planned on buying a CS10 center channel this week to improve movie watching / dialog clarity, but the whole timbre matching thing is causing me to pause.

I do eventually plan to replace all the speakers mainly because the wife does not like the size of the current floor speakers overpowering the area around the TV. However, I don't want to spend the money on 2 TSi 300/400 speakers, subwoofer, and the center channel all at once right now.

Questions are...

Would just upgrading the center channel do more harm than good?
I assume the CS10 / T15 / TSi300/400 are timbre matched?

Thanks

The front should be all be matched. In your case with the cs10 and the 300's/400's you will be OK.

Also look into the Monitor line. The tsi line i believe are the newer versions of the Monitors.Check out newegg for sales on the monitors.

    Good luck.

Flyfisher is right, the CS10 and TSi 300/400 are timbre matched so you are fine there. As far as the 10 making a difference in the current HT, who knows, but IMHO I would lean more towards the CS20 as the center channel carries something like 50-75% of a movies soundtrack, esp. dialouge so you don't want to skimp. I would also agree with the recomendation to check out the Monitor series, IMHO for the price, they can't be beat. I own the Monitor 70's and their "replacements" the TSi 500's and actually prefer the 70's. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk.
