Hi everyone!, I'm new here. I want some advise about setting a 7.1 HT. The base will be a 5.0 RM85 package, I own a PSW110 as my LFE. So I need to complete the 7.1 set. My first options are:

  • RM8's as fronts, RM7s as Surrounds and a new pair of RM7 for back surrounds
  • RM8's as surrounds, RM7s as back Surrounds and a new pair of Monitor 30 for the front
  • RM8's as surrounds, RM7s as back Surrounds and a new pair of Tsi100 for the front

Wich one of the last two will sound better with the RM8 center?

    Just my .02 (however doesn't mean I'm right);
    Monitor 30 or TSi 100 do not seem appropriate unless you consider a new center that would match such speakers otherwise I think you should stick with the RM series for now until you can upgrade accordingly. Maybe just buy another RM center for now which will provide you for a 6.1 set-up and once your budget can provide, you can then cover front with Monitor 30 or Tsi 100 + appropriate center and move the RM centers as surrounds (you would simply need to change your grills)?

    Cheers!
